The only way I can see marking stress on the second syllables of those words coming about is if someone has secondary stress on those syllables, probably while speaking carefully, and then is confusing primary stress and secondary stress (i.e. perceiving them as the same) and based on that choosing to place primary stress on syllables that actually have secondary stress.

The easiest way to settle this would be with a recording, even though I doubt it'll turn out to be favorable for Helios's transcriptions, at least in regard to the stress.

get - [gɨt̚]
jet - [d͡ʒɛt̚]
cat - [kʰæt̚]

I'm really not sure what to transcribe my final /l/ as; I might have to make a recording and post it here since at least one of you guys has more expertise than me in these areas.

Also, what part of the world do you live in, 2-4?

because your pronunciations clearly aren't native.

iron

[ɐɪən]

There or there abouts. Dipthongs are difficult, tripthongs even more so. What I really want to know is, does anyone have an /r/ in this?

iron: /ˈəe̯ərn/ > [ˈəe̯ʁ̩̃ˤ(ː)(n)]
magnesium: /mɛɡˈniziəm/ > [mɛːɡ̊ˈniːziːə̃(ː)m]~[mɛːɡ̊ˈniːzjə̃(ː)m]
copper: /ˈkapər/ > [ˈkʰab̥ʁ̩ˤ(ː)]
aluminum: /əˈlumɪnəm/ > [əːˈʟ̞ũːmɨ̃ːnə̃(ː)m]~[əːˈɰũːmɨ̃ːnə̃(ː)m]
titanium: /tae̯ˈteniəm/* > [tʰăĕ̯ˈtʰẽːniːə̃(ː)m]~[tʰăĕ̯ˈtʰẽːjːə̃(ː)m]
gold: /ˈɡold/ > [ˈɡ̊oːʊ̯d̥]
silver: /ˈsɪlvər/ > [ˈsɪːɯ̞̯vʁ̩ˤ(ː)]

* This word is very odd, because it "should" take /əe̯/ but it in fact takes /ae̯/. It might be due to probably being a "learned" word, but even then, such words typically take /əe̯/ in this position.

How do you pronounce Linux?

I have:

Linux: /ˈlɪnɪks/ > [ˈʟ̞ɪ̃ːnɨʔks̻]~[ˈɰɪ̃ːnɨʔks̻]~[ˈʟ̞ɪ̃̂ːɨ̯̃ʔks̻]~[ˈɰɪ̃̂ːɨ̯̃ʔks̻]

(This is inspired by hearing people saying something like [ˈlaɪ̯nəʔks] multiple times over the phone.)

I've been looking through lexical sets for my vowels and looked at bits of information on Wiki about Southern English accents/London/Estuary, and I've learnt just how mistaken I have been on some pronunciation. So from now on there'll be more accurate IPA. Not accurate but at least better than before.

That'll teach me to apply RP to my accent. Or maybe not, I am learning.
It was about time I changed this.
