Oh, you too? I didn't realize I was in such high demand. I'm almost done, so if you guys can hang on just a little longer, I'll be ready. ;)

EDIT: Finally. Done and sent.

Can we bribe Torco or something to take over for johntm? :P

Honestly, I'm always a bit wary of allowing newbies into this sort of thing for that reason. It seems like generally oldbies are a bit more reliable, although there are some new people who are fine.

Don't worry, I'm old at heart.

I do think these things should have a contingency plan for people disappearing off into the back of beyond. At least a deadline of some sort, with a "HEY YOU GET TO WORK" message a few days before that, and some people who can be called upon to fill in gaps in the line, or rearrange the line, or something.

Now now, hito, share nicely with the other boys, or I'll be the one doing the whipping.

*applause*

my internet time is limited, cause Im in an internet cafe in praha and these guys charge like two euros per hour. so someone please post the text you need translated and I will get to it. this weird keyboard is alien to me, so there won-t be accents or apostrophes, but otherwise lets get this going.

and I expect shirtless pics in exchange, Risla... or someone else, I guess.

Suggestion for a fun relay, instead of relaying written language, relay spoken language. So each person would need to make an audio recording, and the next person must optionally transcribe it then translate it. It would be fun but a bit more trouble so maybe a small test relay should happen?

It was done once at UniLang, and very successfully, so I don't see why it couldn't be done here. Maybe the next telephone could be organized as such?

And with "very successfully", I mean that it was really fucked up (although mainly because of me), with things like "the wolf is eating in the pool, the greatest creation of my civilization under water", etc.

Hahaha, and do it via youtube? I've always wanted to do a similar thing but with something like signal flags (after having translated it to another language). Or morse. Or braille (if we just had a blind ZBBer around, sending it via snail mail).

Received text mercifully short. Will start translating tonight.

UPDATE: I've done a sort of inter-linear translation, but thee are a few words I don't know, so I'll have to find out what they mean before I can write up the final translation. I'll probably be finished and send the translation on Monday.

OK, I received the text this morning so I've done a rough translation and I'll refine it after lunch before sending it on. Most of it makes sense, but there is one phrase that seems rather strange. I hope I can put it down to the text having changed a fait bit already and it's not just me being dense!

Update: OK, it's done and sent. Also, though, the text came with a title that seemed to introduce the text but which was in Mandarin so I translated it. So if all of a sudden a strange title appears that wasn't intended, that's why.

Text translated and sent to Viktor et al.

I don't know whether or not to be happy that I got the text half-way down the chain.

Text sent to Sevly and Renacido.

The passage was very parse-able ie. there wasn't much awkward vocabulary. But the clauses, the clauses were all over the place and didn't connect back in any manner.

I can hardly wait to see what happened to the text. It was ridiculous to begin with, and there are some things in it that I doubt survived translation well. :P

There were some untidy and complicated relative clauses in the version I got, which proved to be too much for Lakota - I know I'm guilty of changing something.
