*Not very idiomatic, I'd say something like "ik ben niet op de hoogte van metal" or "ik ken nauwelijks metalbands" or the like. "Goed kennen" is typically used only for persons.

You know, I wanted to write that, and then I thought "no, that's probably wrong"...

I was born in 1965. When my musical taste was formed (late 70s / early 80s), metal was a fringe scene*1), and I never developed a taste for it. I barely recognize a few pieces by the most popular groups (like Metallica).

*1) I see that Wikipedia counts bands like Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin under "Heavy Metal", but we called that kind of music Hard Rock back then. For me, heavy metal starts with bands like Motörhead or Iron Maiden.

We just moved into our new apartment in Memphis. We are in the suburbs, a stone's throw from the Mississippi border. We have a nice big apartment with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. This way we have a guest room and an office. And finally we have a dryer, a dishwasher, and a king-sized bed (super king in UK) (which we didn't have before). I'm happy but now we have to unpack tons of boxes, which I'm not happy about.

Ningesema hivi karibuni
Instead of Inshallah, it's common to say Mungu akipenda (God 3s.ANIM-SIMULT/if-like/love). And I haven't seen baada kidogo for "soon". I'd say hivi karibuni.

Nililala kwa saa tatu tu. Niko njiani pangu pa kazini nikingoja kwamba mvua iache. Inanyesha mvua kali. Niko katika kituo cha ubani.
I only slept for three hours. I'm on my way to work, waiting for the rain to stop. It's raining heavily. I'm at an U-Bahn station.

*This is by some considered a germanism, though it was pretty common in speech in the previous century. To avoid it, use "jaren 70" etc. Since the beginning of this century, the "original" Dutch is gaining more popularity, since we have "de jaren 0" and "de jaren 10", which don't easily get the "german" form ("nuller jaren"? "tiener jaren"? (the latter would mean something totally different)).
**Though most of the time there's a choice between splitting or keeping such prepositions, in this case it sounds better to split.
***You're saying here that there are only a few pieces you barely recognize, implying that the others you do recognize fine. I think that even the English implies that. I'd say something like "Ik herken zelfs van de bekendste groepen (zoals Metallica) nauwelijks nummers" or "de nummers nauwelijks".
^I'd say "nummers". "stukken" sounds more like classical music.

Bado inanyesha.
It's still raining. Since I came to Germany, I've never seen rain like this. It would be normal in Australia, but around here, actual rain is rare.

I stole a cheetah from the zoo.

Duma yangu amezaa.
My cheetah has given birth.

Wana-duma wengi wamezaliwa naye.
Many baby cheetahs have been given birth to by her.

Ik kijk ernaar uit.

I'm looking forward to it.

The house is finally finished! I am happy as everything came together well. I have a knack for interior design. My trick is using either only a warm or a cool color palette with a neutral of white/silver or black/brown and pops of complementary colors. And lots of bold accessories. Thanks, IKEA and HomeGoods.

lle doesn't trigger soft mutation. (Also to me this reads like dialect mixing - we say lle byset/baset up north and in the south they say ble byddet - but there are probs dialects that do both). The reason if you wanna get etymological is that this is underlyingly lle y byddet... not *lle a fyddet because of the role the interrogative plays in the sentence, which is adverbial and not a subject/direct object.
