How do you pronounce Louis XIV? I've found that I call him [lui katoʁz] (or at least [lui katoɹ̠ˁz]) even in English. This does not apply to non-French monarchs (e.g., George III [ʤɔɹ̠ˁʤ ðə θɹ̩d]) or seemingly even to other French monarchs (e.g., Louis IX [lui ðə nɑɪ̯nθ], Francis II [fɹ̠ˁænsɪs ðə sɛkn̩d]). I'm curious if anyone else has idiosyncracies like that. The only other case I can think of for myself is pronouncing Napoleon [napoleɔ̃], but this does not extend to Louis-Napoleon/Napoleon III.

AFAICT for the moment, the only French ruler I pronounce with a Scottish accent rather than a French one is Napoleon /nɐpoɫeʌn/.

I've never felt like pronouncing "Napoleon" any other way than a fully nativized /nəˈpoʊliən/ [nə̆ˈpo̞ːə̯ɫin̩]. For Louis XIV, it takes me a moment to read the Roman numerals, so I'd probably go with /ˈlui ðə foɚ̯tinθ] [ˈluˑi ðə̆ fo̞ɚ̯ˈtʰintθ].

Louis XIV [lyːi̯ ðə ˈfoːˌtʰɪĩ̯θ]
Napoleon [nəˈpʰɔʊ̯liə̯̃n]
Louis-Napoleon [ˈlyːĩ̯nəˌpʰɔʊ̯liə̯̃n]

Also how are your guys' vowels before intervocalic /r/? I was just wondering about mine, since they're tending to rhotacise/sulcalise.

I think I'm weirdly idiosyncratic about whether I use foreign pronunciations or not but only because it's often just easier for me to use the pronunciation in the native language than it is for me to guess how English-speakers I'm talking to would pronounce it, to what extent there's speaker variation there, etc. (if they even know who or what I'm talking about in the first place). I never use words like "quatorze" in English, though, only ever with people who know at least some French. I say [ʔɪˈɹɑːk] and [ʔɪˈɹɑːn] for Iraq and Iran respectively (which I suppose are somewhat overtly prestigious pronunciations) instead of "I rack" and "I ran," which IME are honestly pretty much just dumb spelling pronunciations used by people who don't know any better. I tend to pronounce Indian words with an Indian accent (specifically a Malayalee accent if it's a word that has multiple common pronunciations even within India, such as "sari." In Hindi, apparently, it's [ˈsaɽʱi], but for me, it has never been anything but [ˈsaːɾi]) with the exception of "Sanskrit" [ˈsænskɹɪt̚]. I usually (try to) pronounce French proper nouns like in French (not the common noun "champagne," though, only the name of the region Champagne), German proper nouns like in German, etc. but I don't always do that with "Bonaparte" and probably even less often with "Napoleon." I also no longer do that with common Latin loans like "et cetera."

Bokmål [ˈbɔkmɑl]
Belarus [bɛləˈɹ̱ˤus]

All of these except Belarus are guesses.

Nynorsk/Bokmål aren't something that's a part of my normal spoken vocab so I can't say for sure I'd nativize them if they ever came up, when reading my "mental voice" doesn't.

dénouement [d̪en̪umɑ̃]
rapprochement [rapʀoʃmɑ̃]

Similarly,

accoutrement [akut̪ʀəmɑ̃]
penchant [pɑ̃ʃɑ̃]

I think it was implied that this was in English.

That said, I pronounce dénouement as [tẽːnʲʉ̃ũːˈmã(ː)].

However, the others I pronounce in a more anglicized fashion:

rapprochement: [ʁʷəˈpʰʁoʔtʃmɘ̃ʔ]
accoutrement: [əˈkʰutʃɻ͡ʁə̃ːmɘ̃ʔ]
penchant: [pʰɜ̃tʃɘ̃ʔ]

I'm aware of that; that's how I pronounce them in English. Yes, it's pretentious, but I don't mind being a little pretentious sometimes. ;)

I pronounce them as closely as I can to RP (sorry America, I don't like [ɹ̠ʷ]): [ˈθɹ̠ʷiː] [ˈɑːθɹ̠ʷäɪ̯tɪs] [ˈæsθmə] [ðe̞ɪ̯] [bɹ̠ʷɒðə], but I still (it's 3 years since I discovered IPA etc.) can't distinguish 'three'-'free' and 'breathe'-'breve' and I want to ask you - how do you hear the difference between these two places of articulation.

dénouement - [ˈdɛɪnʉmə̃nʔ] (spelling pronunciation, I'm not familiar with this word).
rapprochement - [ɹʷɜˈpʰɹɜʉt͡ʃmə̃nʔ] (possibly also a spelling pronunciation, but I have used this word).
