Sorry Nort, I was being an idiot; the language is Chalon. I kept thinking it was Rumsen, probably because the paper I got it from had texts in both languages, and I was under the impression that it was the only Ohlone language with a velar fricative. So yay, you got it! Yesterday >.<

Incidentally, the text is the Act of Contrition from a partial catechism translated into Chalon, one of relatively few sources for the language.

I'm used to seeing <bh>, <ş>, and <kx> instead of <bj>, <š>, and <q>, but yes, it's Chechen.

Is it Yélî Dnye? A bit of a shot in the dark, but it looks like it has some odd co-articulation going on.

Is that the actual orthography, or IPA transcription? (I'm used to seeing <q> or <p̃> for the labial-velar stop for languages in Vanuatu -- then again, if it were IPA I'd expect it to be marked as rounded unless it's particularly broad.)

Spoken by fewer than 1000 people? Fewer than 500?

Edit: Whoops, just realized that probably falls into a what-to-Google kind of question. Just ignore me.

It's a broad transcription. To be honest, I just couldn't type a p with tilde. The language uses both <p> and <m> with tilde, though.
