Post subject:  Why do people call their motorcycle a "bike" not a "moke"?

"Bicycle" is shortened to "bike". "Tricycle" is shortened to "trike" Shouldn't "motorcycle" be shortened to "moke"? Using "bike" creates confusion leading people to ask "a bicycle or motorcycle?"

First off, "moke" sounds dumb. Second off, there already exists "motorbike" for when disambiguation is necessary

I have never heard trike for a tricycle. You rarely have to distinguish between the three.

I am familiar with trike being used for tricycles, e.g. little kids' tricycles.

Trike for tricycle is not a word I use personally, but I am quite familiar with it. That being said, I think bike in this context is just a short form of motorbike. The real question is, is there anyone who says motorized bicycle, or whatever motorbike is a short form of?

A "motorized bicycle" makes me think of one of those bicycles with motorized assist devices for, e.g., going up hills, not a motorbike, which to me is like a motorcycle except lighter, potentially faster (compared to, say, Harleys), and potentially with off-road capability.
