I am also 2-4 on Akana forum.
I'd like to join the team 1, if I can.

Okay, I've added you too. I'll be on IRC for the next two or three hours, in case you'd like to get pointers...

Team 1 should probably be considered full now. If anyone else wants to join for the daughterlang-creating phase of the game, that's up for Team 2 to decide. (Anyone can of course help reconstructing the protolanguages when the reconstruction phase begins.)

Thought I'd have a look at the T1 languages and see what there is to reconstruct (not much yet).

Based on totally superficial initial observations, I'd reconstruct something like the following for personal pronouns:
to- "I"
li- "thou"
hu- "he/she/they"
si- "we"
ñV- "you"
nu- "they"

Omari's demonstratives look like compounds of which the first element is *h- in the singular and *n- in the plural.

*ñV- attempts to reconcile Omari gi, Tey. tʃ-/je-, and Hkətl. nya.

I have a vague, gut feeling that Proto-T1 has a very strange phonology.

I was looking at Potɑnsʉti and playing around with the spelling system... it looks unmistakably Finnic this way, doesn't it? Saami, maybe.

@up: Nice.
In my reconstructive attempts I've been using ‹b› /β/, ‹â› /ɑ/ and ‹y› [ɰ], though. :)

After a quick glance, it seems to me that not only is it very obvious that T1 languages are related to one another...:

Code: Select all

Well that's 'cause our languages are a newly discovered sub-phyla of IElangs discovered in the vast wilderness of the Amazon.

I was reading Zompist's reconstruction of the phoneme inventory of Proto-Isles, comparing his observations with the correct answers. Berry, berry interesting. He got the consonant inventory almost completely right, the exception being /q/ which he missed, as there wasn't really enough data for it. (The daughters modified it heavily too whenever they conserved a word with /q/. He did nonetheless notice something funny about the 'good' and 'eat' sets, /qí/ and /siq/ respectively.) His *h was actually /ħ/, but there was no way to figure that out.

Was there ever any other work on reconstructing something of Proto-Isles or Ndak Ta?

And in the middle of translating the sample text I realized that I should modify the phonetic changes. :P

To celebrate the Missed Deadline Day properly, I'd like to share this:

A grammar of Tetey (PDF, 400+KB)

Not finished (which is why I don't upload it to the Wiki).

Less stuff than planned, but I hope something useful for reconstruction can be found in it.

Looks good, thanks a lot!

A fairly comprehensive lexicon for Hkətl’ohnim (> 500 words) is almost done; I just need to clean up a few things before publishing it, which I will probably manage to get done tonight.

A wordlist for Omari (less detailed, but useful for reconstruction) should be up in a week or so.

It's taken a bit longer than expected once again, but it's finally there: Hkətl’ohnim Lexicon! The language page also contains some additional details now.

Good work! :)

I am working, too. I increased the size of the Hato lexicon by 102 words over last two days.
It is not yet available on the wiki; I'll share it after it's finished.

Real life has been quite the bother but rest assured I'll be working on and off of the lexicons of both Cëzëdeğozin & Śetiid over the next while.

Real life is so brutal.
I have 427 Yalan entries as for now (both languages combined), but first I shall finish the text. I'll see what I can do. It should be complete and published till the end of November, very probably it will sooner, but I can't tell when.

Is there room now or in future for another family? I have a proto-language that I'm willing to donate; it has about 250 words, a phonology and a morphosyntax sketch. Last time I joined it got killed by a project I had to work on, but I am free for the foreseeable future.
