I wonder if we can place next language families in different "time layers". I mean, the next relay could take the span between -6000 to -4000 YP and a place very close to this one – except the room for T1 and T2 ancestors to develop.

So I was wondering if we might get along to the reconstruction phase. Barring Śetiid for which I have negligible work on the internet for there should be enough information at least for Team 1's languages to get a reasonable reconstruction.

I started making a comparative table from what I could find. Here's my quick 'n' dirty initial reconstruction of Proto-T1 numerals. I assumed that pharyngealization is an ancient contrastive feature, preserved only in Omari (but Cedn. /ˤk/ > /q/). "Ten" looks a bit clunky and might represent some analyzable compound.

1 *no
2 *njak
3 *sa
4 *ˤkep
5 *re
6 *tokˤ
7 *mur
8 *fe
9 *ola
10 *aneta

Also, in case anyone has forgotten, we are at some point supposed to each name the other team's language family based on some aspect of what we've reconstructed.

Could you show us your comparative table, dunomapuka? Once we have a table, realigning cognate sets or rooting out borrowings or noticing affixal material that should be removed or ... are interesting things we can collaborate / work independently on; but there's no fun gained (for me) by having to compile the tables themselves separately.

This weekend I hope, God willing, to get a nice lexicon published. (I just have to finish this paper for one of my classes today…)

I'd like to suggest creating a dedicated thread for the reconstruction of each protolanguage in the public section of the AkanaForum.

Well, I have some big stuff to publish (the lexicon and the sample text), but I got some unexpected hardware issues (luckily, the stuff is either safe or backed up, I think) and I don't know when I will be able to publish it. But when I do, I'll be complete.

I have the actual article up for editing in another window, but in the meantime, here, have a lexicon.

EDIT: Oh, look, it's actually got its own article proper now as opposed to just being shunted into my namespace.

I've redone my daughterlang, don't know if anyone else's working on this still though.

Me too. (Maybe the best way to get the other team working on this would be to summarize and publish our own results?)

Re the T1-langs, my work on Yalan is largely finished (except that the sample text is not completed) and development of Tari is discontinued, still it can be useful for comparison to the other team.

For the results — are we going to make it a page on the wiki or like?

I'd suggest maybe a wiki page or a wiki-like page, written like the other pages on proto-languages are in a sort of in-universe perspective. But that's just me.

Also, I really need to get to work on the sample text and other stuff…

Good God how long has it been.

Maybe a reboot is in order, with new languages and stuff, or IDK

Posting the reconstruction itself in a wiki article seems like a good idea. For discussion of specific features, the existing forum threads should be useful too.

Well, there were a kinda reboot (the 2012/13 relay), but it went nowhere so far (at least by now).

Making a summarizing of the 2011/12 would be great, it may seem abandoned, but it has undertaken by many people and has grown to a very high level.

BTW, a new relay emerged.

Perhaps! But the whole process was so difficult it felt like I was working on a 20,000 piece jigsaw puzzle without any idea what the final image was supposed to be. And I think there was only one other person contributing data to my spreadsheet, so I didn't really have the energy of the collective behind me.

Plus, I haven't been in a conlangy mood in recent months. Undoubtedly it will rekindle at some point.

Fortunately, I just checked the google doc and it looks like somebody is working on it as of yesterday! (here is the link)

Yeah, I figured I'd give y'all the updated version of my lang, some things might be more transparent than with the original version.

It is a pretty old summary (written ca 9 months ago), but I think it accurately outlines the Proto-Dumic as it was reconstructed.
Obviously, many other things have been discovered since then, so the final result will surely vary.
