Don't order your languages by difficulty or preference, order them alphabetically (this is so that everyone's is the same). Don't write "just for fun". Write a star next to your native language, if you've included it.

It's an indirect way of saying "I don't fucking care if you say 'maybe I'll do this language', once I'm making the chains I'll take all languages you posted into account equally, so don't even bother let alone expect me from taking your 'maybe's into account at all".
Basically, something like that. Last time I just remember so many people tacked a "maybe" on the end of their lists, which I invariably never ended up using. This time I would just prefer it if people didn't do that, essentially. Either include it in your list or don't. Another problem for me is when people were obviously gunning for a particular language and put it at the top of their list, and again I'd sometimes feel almost obliged to try and incorporate that even if it was difficult to fit into the chain. And it's hard to read what people are implying when they put their languages in one order or another. So that's why this time I'm saying that if you really, desperately want to do a particular language, put it as the only item in your list. You don't have to write every language that you know.
Again if nobody joins again I'll put the chain together maybe at the weekend.
Native: English, Modern Greek (The normal one, not one of the Kypriot or Turkish ones)
Can do: Mandarin, Japanese
Maybe-ish : Southern Quechua
Longshot: French and Pikachu

working on the chain. I'm having a little bit of trouble fitting 2-4 into the chain... The only one of his languages that anyone else has offered is Croatian, by hwhatting, but I wanted to save him for the Classical Greek link. So if anyone else wants to offer to translate from Croatian it looks like Classical Greek is out.

I'll do it. I've studied South Slavic languages, Serbian but it will work. That way you can have Classical Greek.

I'm glad you won't have set deadlines for this, because it looks like I'll be receiving the text right in the middle of Spring Festival holiday. While I'll have my computer during that time, I'll be travel around, so I'll probably need at least several days to finish it.
That said, it should be interesting. I'm glad a got a totally non-English link again (only the 2nd time ever in my 4 or 5 times participating, and the first time that happened I specifically asked for it). Funnily enough, I believe I received the text from treskro last time, as well.
Gaelic to Classical Greek? That HAS to be the weirdest translation I've ever done.
