Kool map game
Re: Kool map game
I'm working on Italy now.
Re: Kool map game
I've completed the map of Italy.
Re: Kool map game
Those names seem awfully familiar. You should get out of your conlang comfort zone a little, this is a bit romlangish.
Re: Kool map game
Yeah, making the map of Italy I might have unconsciously been a little influenced by Italian.
Re: Kool map game
Maybe one of those little islands off Tuscany?
Re: Kool map game
Also Agart. This didn't take a whole lot of time to make. I based very closely on the Island in the game.
Re: Kool map game
I may be the only one who still cares about this, but it's fun for me so I'm going to keep going. Here is Eritrea with the southeast portion left rough so that I can match it to whatever Burke came up with.
Re: Kool map game
To be honest, I only expected this to last for two pages at most, so what people have done with it is a pleasure. If anyone wants to gather this up and save it anywhere, they are free to.

I still care, I'm just not good with map-making.

I do, but I am busy with school and have no geography to work with.clawgrip wrote:I may be the only one who still cares about this, but it's fun for me so I'm going to keep going. Here is Eritrea with the southeast portion left rough so that I can match it to whatever Burke came up with.
Hey there.
Re: Kool map game
I was thinking about Jerho, but it is pretty far north. When I made the 3D map I just applied the map as is, making it an equirectangular projection. This would mean that the north-south range gets compressed as you get closer to the poles. Most of the maps we've done have been within the middle range of the map. I've been thinking about what the best way is to draw it.

That reminds me, I should get around to making a map of Nin...

I figured valiums wouldn't mind if I made Paagmiin, so here it is. It was difficult to make the country mostly desert, but I tried to reduce the amount of rivers anyway.
Re: Kool map game
Also Click, I made one of your Bonk maps to fill a hole between some other maps. I hope you don't mind. Maybe you can add some cities and so on.
You can find it here.

Do what ya like, the geography is in your hands because I lack sufficient/ efficient programmes.clawgrip wrote:I was thinking about Jerho, but it is pretty far north. Re: Kool map game
Your lake flows out to the sea via two separate rivers. This doesn't happen in the real world, but I haven't been following this thread. Perhaps this planet doesn't use real physics.clawgrip wrote:I figured valiums wouldn't mind if I made Paagmiin, so here it is. Re: Kool map game
It does actually happen in the real world, and is called lake bifurcation, although it is of course relatively rare. There is even a lake in Saskatchewan that drains into two different oceans. I will admit that I'm no geography expert, so if you can help point out why lake bifurcation would be is implausible in this case, I will be happy to change it to make it more realistic. The idea was that the western side of the lake was a relatively low-lying area and thus more likely to get split up. Maybe I should remove some of the hills where it drains into the northern river?
Re: Kool map game
Another possibility is that they could perhaps be controlled by dams, like e.g. Redstone Lake somewhat close to where I'm from, which has two outflows (though they join up again further down after passing through a couple other lakes). I discovered this one while browsing the lake systems of Ontario.
Re: Kool map game
I've got a base map outlined, but nothing special so far. I've been getting my ducks lined up for school, so my internet life is going to doom.
I might try a simply political map of JR, but if someone hijacks the geography, I won't mind at all since I probably won't be here as often as I like. I'm guessing I don't want to fail this MS program.

If you have to choose between Jaawi Ruusih and school, choose school.

What's the big pink splodge? Some kind of breast cancer?
Re: Kool map game
It’s a salt lake or something like that.
