The second sentence has me confused, since the two version don't match. I don't whether you meant to say "und ich habe verschiedene rotfarbige Dinge gezeichnet" or "and I was drawing various colours".

Ausdenken heisst "come up with" im Sinne von "devise, make up". Es ist auch reflexiv. Für "come up with" im Sinne von "have come into my head", zieh ich sich einfallen (lassen) vor.
