I'm writing in a new conlang. Can you guess which language it's descended from?

(I'm probably not going to go anywhere with this and I completely halfassed this but w/e)

That's not the right area. That's almost not the right continent.

Yeah I can already see now that this conlang isn't gonna work, giving up on it. The idea was to have a descendant of Lydian end up in Bulgaria but it's ugly as hell and it'd have to be like 90% loanwords anyway so fuck it. I didn't realize when I came up with the idea that every other consonant in Lydian is /ð/. I guess I could've gotten rid of them but Albanian and Greek both have them.

I'm creating Gnoamish... sort of. It uses British slang and Anglish. It's polysynthetic.

Dunno. Ummeikini'uppazuygoaw'long, wichlukswurkly.
I'm not exactly sure. 'm making it up as I go along, which seems to work.

If'wurdlukstoonuysorfafeeyorstuffee denitsno''Gnoamwurd.
If a word seems too polite, technical or formal, then it's not a Gnoam word.

Denuyimajini'wiv'cokneebab'w'n'pluyd'prop'rscriblin.
Then I imagine it with a Cockney accent and apply the appropriate orthgraphy.
It was about time I changed this.

(ti'am stil a undryn if yê cun Pembrosch wy no translasion rêd, zo ti'am noa vryten)

hm, maybe i shouldn't develop the aspect distinction -- does welsh have one? if so, how's it formed? i should look up whether yola has one. also you will notice that pembrish has no [e:] -- this is because [e:] is terrible and also i cannot pronounce it.

Initial fricative voicing, short /i u/ can be centralized to [ɪ ʊ], preposition-article sequences frequently contract (cf. Yola ta < at a, and Pembrish noa < ne + oa(n)... which exactly parallels English, doesn't it, though it's less limited in Pembrish), sporadic consonant loss in common words (following Yola theezil etc. in the reflexives), and Pembrish never underwent the vowel shift and didn't develop compensatory length when it lost its schwas. (Length in Pembrish is pretty marginal anyway, and probably in the process of being lost. Maybe it'll turn into quality or something.)
