Kinakiki kinata yakaki. Naisuuna tazufise fanlusenai!
There is no sugar* or energy/calories (unless you add sugar and milk). Tea really is better!

*it says honey because i have no word for sugar yet, tbh.

It's got caffeine in it, though, which is addictive, so it's not exactly the world's healthiest drink. But then, so do a lot of sodas. It also has somewhat of a diuretic effect, although not as pronounced as some people make out. And again, a lot of sodas have this effect too. Ideally you don't wanna be drinking only tea, but it's way way better than drinking only soda.

edit: mixed up the definite and indefinite articles.

The amount of sugar you put in your tea is nowhere near the amount of sugar in soda though...like come on, you seem to kinda be aware of that. Anyway, as for crudely stereotyping countries, most British people put sugar too, but I don't actually like tea all that much. I've only recently started drinking green tea in restaurants when I can't be bothered asking for water instead, and Japanese tea is stronger than British tea flavourwise, so there's no need to add milk and sugar.
