I visited hungary, budapest to be exact, in the end of january. It was a beautiful city. There was also a bit of snow which I loved. I didn't understand anything of the Hungarian language, but luckily most people also speak English.

In the past three (or so) weeks, my computer has been broken. Just now, my mum came to my house and swapped it for another computer, which I've used before. You should visit Amsterdam as well, as it is a very nice city. More close, you have the dutch city of Maastricht in the very southern part of the Netherlands. You can go there by direct train. Other nice cities are Luxembourg, Brussels and Aachen. Liege itself isn't a very nice city because it is very industrial.

I could say 'Low Countries' in Portuguese, but this is very formal and nobody would know what I'd be talking about if I would use this word.

By the way not sure if my use of the 'conditional' tense throughout this sentence here is correct. Does anyone even speak Portuguese here? Otherwise this might be a bit pointless haha.

En fait, j'ai déjà voyagé au Luxembourg. J'ai passé 1 semaine au Grand-Duché où j'ai voyagé partout (la Ville de Luxembourg, Vianden, Esch-sur-Sûre, etc.) et dont 2 jours j'ai passés à Bruxelles et Maastricht, respectivement. J'ai trouvé ces deux villes marveilleuses, surtout Maastricht (mais il pleuvait quand j'étais là). In fact, I've already traveled to Luxembourg. I spent 1 week in the Grand Duchy, where I traveled all over (Luxembourg City, Vianden, Esch-sur-Sûre, etc.) and of which two days were spent in Brussels and Maastricht, respectively. I found these two cities to be marvelous, especially Mastricht (but it was raining when I was there). Even more, my ancestors came from Aachen (my surname comes from this city/region--and among some other ancestors that I've researched, from Hamburg and Posen, now in Poland, and Prussian Pomerania), so I have to visit there! In Germany, I've only visited Trier.

I can't help you with the Portuguese but with your English, there's one thing that I can fix.

In conditional sentences dealing with hypothetical situations, the if-clause uses the simple past tense (or subjunctive, which is only possible to distinguish with the verb be). 'Would' is generally restricted to the apodosis. "If I went" and "if I were to go" mean the same thing but the latter is rather formal and, at least to me, seems to indicate that something is quite a bit more far fetched than the simple "if I went".

It is true. Holland is the name of the region of 'Holland' inthe west of the country, while 'Nederland' is the name of the country itself. But outside of Holland, nobody knows this distinction, and it is in my opinion better to use words that everybody is able to understand.
