I am pretty sure it is a Turkic language judging from the orthography.
Now it could be gagauz but that doesn't have the ë, same for crimean tatar.
So I will go with Tatar proper.

Was thinking of that but it's spelled in Cyrillic script usually, so seems strange to me.
Perhaps he chose some obscure text in this language that is written in latin script.

I'm pretty sure it is some Albanian (Tosk) dialect spoken outside Albania, like in Greece, Bulgaria or Romania. I recognize some Albanian roots.
