Since the closest I can get to tofu is /ˈtohuː/ (tohou), which isn't the most natural combination of sounds in my conlang, I decided to go for a little more creative option:

Damn, I spent some time thinking about a suitable etymology of this word, and somewhere along the way I must have mixed something up, because I ended up with:

snadida ˈsnɛðɪða (n) spade
- {active participle of *snida, from ON sníða, to cut}

So... shovel. Right.

celthog ˈkəlθoː (v) to shovel; to clear, to move something out of the way (masses, piles; also sometimes figuratively); (n) shovel
- {cel- (pref) from one place to another, from beginning to end + thog (v) to push, to shove; to push something forward}

- - -

While we're on the subject of digging.... next: pig

Tormiott:

pied /pjən/ (n) world, planet earth (compare miunt) {from ON bjǫð, ground, flat land}

There are other words for earth/ground/dirt, and I apparently even have a noun to refer to of human life on earth (as opposed to heaven or hell).

To me, those are three different concepts, so I'll translate all three

Tormiott:

siehas ˈɕəhɪs (v) to exhale; to sigh
+ sie- ɕə (pref) outwards, away; changing in shape, material or form
+ has hɛs (v) to breathe; to drink

o mie roppahte has ʊ mjə ˈɾopːaħtə hɛs (v) {momentane} to gasp (in shock); to be startled; to be shocked, to be surprised
+ lit. to inhale with the mouth wide open [ADV mouth large-be.open.3s to.breathe]

ritta ɾitːa (v) to call out, to exclaim, to cry out; to yell, to shout
