Things like this sicken me. All he said was a greeting.

19th century porn!

Apparently, the internet has become so sex crazed that I cant even do an innocent Google search for pearls without pornography coming up.

Not funny at all, but perhaps of some interest to some ZBBers: Terry Pratchett has Alzheimer's.

Believe it or not, I've heard of this periodical. Actually I think it's dirtier than anything could be nowadays, since the language has more complex syntax, even if the content is now quite tame as things go nowadays. Goodness, what with the emphasis being on plain vanilla heterosexual vaginal sex, it's positively queynte.

Some Victorians would have been shocked at The Pearl.
Some Victorians would not have been shocked at The Pearl, but have been shocked that a young woman of your age who isn't a tart could easily read it.
And some Victorians would have found it quite exciting that you saw The Pearl, but would have drawn the wrong conclusions from it.

You know, if the ZBB made conlanging pornographic in some way, they could get a whole new audience for the hobby.

I just had an image of Leumihatsan (main female character in my story, speaker of my conlang Thenqol) crying out to Louis (main male, lover (and after husband) of first) :

Kawkír! Kawkír! Kawkír!

Kaw-(kir)
I-(destination)
Do I need to translate?

Easy?

As in, innocent, inexperienced or seduce-able?

Someone who will not be the slightest bit interested in protecting her virtue. Someone who is eager for sexual congress.
(The Victorian readers of the Pearl would have assumed from this you were lower-class.)

Goodness, has "easy" in that sense gone out of the English language?

Now I'm shocked and surprised, Shm Jay. How did you learn what the term "plain vanilla" means in this context?

Not entirely, but it's not universally understood anymore either (if it ever was). To me it sounds kinda quaint.

Meet the Gomboc, the world's first self-righting object.

Those looking for holiday diversions should check out this handy reference for "non-Christmas" Christmas films.

A Flickr set of magnificient illustrations from the Czech children's book Naměsíc a ještě dál.

Great drinking stories from history.

(Watch at your own risk)

Who said 17 was a good age to make decisions based on love?
They didnt have to kill her in public
Those animals even had the nerve to CAPTURE IT ALL ON THEIR CELLPHONES

Sometimes you just loose faith in humanity

MOD EDIT: Here's an idea: "Let's all not post snuff films!" Link removed. This is a family board, after all. Even Saturday didn't go that far.

Sometimes, indeed. This is just horrible. The poor girl. I'd so open the door of my country to those people.

I still have some faith in humanity, but then again, this all depends on what we consider human... Some people don't have a wide definition of human beings...

Old. Also, it was apparently her brother who filmed it. Also, that guy's English is horrible.
http://buffalobeast.com/119/gordon.htm wrote: The girl, Du’a Khalil Aswad, allegedly converted from being Yazidi to the slightly less archaic religion of Islam. This set her family into a typically retarded religious fervor.

Du’a was dragged from her place of worship by nine male relatives and killed in the center of town as a large crowd of onlookers—including uniformed, armed, and indifferent Iraqi police—onlooked.
...
According to Tahsin Saeed Ali, head of the Supreme Yazidi Spiritual Council, “they brutally killed a young Yazidi girl in pursuit of out-of-date tribal rights.”

Speaking of Yazidis, who are considered devil-worshipers by their neighbors, over 400 of them got blown up in August by suicide bombers, a direct result of the Iraq-a-mole game we call the Surge.

MOD EDIT: Link removed, as above. Also, can we maybe hold the religious slurs? Describing Yazidi murderers as "typically retarded" is not on.
