@Lukas: what kind of grains do your people grow? If you have wheat or barley, the wealthy sectors of Chalmea might want them.
They actually don't have wheat in their diet. Their diet consists of fruits, tubers, and a few grasses.

With winter break coming up, I've got a lot I'm gonna get done. Aside from the second civilization, I am breaking up my first into three and one of the three into two main sections.

Surely they have some valuable trade goods... metal? jewels? women? and stuff?

Very much so. Our best exports are probably Ganuv seeds(smoked as a relaxant), Iron, and some advanced technology (The Northern Sbakaz are very good with gears and such).

I'm starting work on Ancient Tll-Fusyn over on the CBB (I've done some translations challenges there, and I've already been Jankoed). I'll have it on the wiki post haste

The Spice Route, going from the east of the Chalmean islands to the port of Bawám , and then upriver into the southern Tll-Ikish steppes. Along this route trading ships and caravans haul spices and drugs from the Chalmean jungle one way and bring back Tll-Ikish metals and Caron timber.
I don't get it... the river doesn't go that far, and timber is too heavy to economically transport by land, or over great distances. 'Sides, the Tll-Ikish, not to mention the Chalmeans, already have ample access to cheap wood on the jungles and forests to the south.

Furthermore, Chalmeans aren't interested in metal as in ores or metal bars as a commodity, but in metalware.

finally, shouldn't we be doing a map to show the position of notable cities?

I'd work on maps, but I can't run paint. Also, we've got some good metalware.

Good point about the wood Torco. I'll have to take a look at the map again and meditate on some alternatives.

As for metalware, the Tll-Ikish can make it, but it's not like its a speciality of theirs or anything. You'd probably get just as good stuff from the Sbakaz.

I asked mom for a scanner for Christmas, so if I get it, I'll draw a map and put it up

Is it allowed to jump on at this stage and what would I need to do (aside from a conculture), if that's the case? I have one project which turns out doesn't really fit onto my conworld's main area, and if I'm to start on an entirely new continent, might as well do it here for the sake of synergy :)

Something temperate would be nice, perhaps the taiga and southermost steppe area of the SW continent? If CS has quit, that continent is getting a bit empty. Hunter-gatherers will be OK but I'd like them in some degree of contact with nomads… well, since nobody has claimed the steppe either, I could just declare some to exist.

What's the latest word on fauna & flora? Giant marsupials by analogy, "pick what you like", to be decided until geological history has been determined?

1. Yea, come on in.
2. Yea, you can take that Steppe. I think he officially quit.
3. Flora and Fauna seem to be pretty normal, but you get free-reign on the southwest continent(as long as it's possible biologically). I have some pretty crazy animals, especially in the jungle. For example, the main grazing animal of the savanna has four legs, and a strong bounding leg behind the back two.

Hm, can I join too? I've got my eye on the Mediterranean climate area on the southwest continent. I've been watching this, but have been busy with schoolwork. I've got some free time now, though.

Yea, go ahead. The person there left, and it's slowly being populated. I don't see why you can't become the main civ there. Also, I like your avi. Real nice.

Hey, the Chalmeans are relatively wealthy, have cool spices and drugs, and completely lack metallurgical tradition as of yet, so merchants are willing to buy metalware from anyone.

I'd prefer "Laurentian" fauna over "Gondwanan". Here's to coff up some plate tectonics in support:

Ignoring the two large (tho they cross a desert? oh well, could be ancient erosion) river estuaries, the coastline from your rainforest area to the steppe/savanna/coast triple-point in Weirdmin's area could, tentativly, have been joined near the SW coast of the central continent until geologically recently, having drifted apart to west-by-southwest. The third branch of the original rift may lie somewhere near either of the rivers.

There aren't really any obvious subduction zones; perhaps on the east coast of Southwestia. And Azdusha's Mediterranean looks more like a forming rift valley than a collision in progress (but the unclaim's bay area to the east looks like a separate continental plate that not long ago collided to the central continent). The bay itself is probably still on continental shelf, having sunk due to the same subduction that made the Mediterranean and the gap in the mountain range. A third such zone could be snuck somewhere under the northern ice cap, and a few in the oceans…

(oh lookie, I'm back to Endi :))

Damn. You sure know your stuff on tectonics. If your interested in what we have already, Ebba made a map that's hiding somewhere in this thread that showed the plates and their movements. You might be able to tweak and fine-tune it. Or create a new one.

Current locations... I think. Azdusha quit a while back so I took over that area... And I think Absolem's territory is overrepresented. Is Wierdmin still in?

The old tectonic map is back on page 11... Go ahead and re-do it, I basically threw something together.

And my name is not "The"! "Ebba" = "The"! :P

I move that we name the continents, at least we should give them operating names, because it sucks to call them 'south-central tip of that big landmass in the middle'

These are the names I propose [they are in various languages, so try and get them all :D]

Awesome maps Torco! As for continent names, I think they're going to just come up naturally from the languages. There probably won't be any need for them even until the age of sail. They're good placeholders though at least. Oh, and Vidogo is only being worked on by Ceresz, and he calls it Mevcéṣ, soooo...

I haven't been contributing nearly enough, but I promise to make up for it with some awesome art.

Also, welcome all!

Feeling left out, and terribly sick. I decided to come back to the ZBB, and, this project has interested me for quite some time. Mind if I stroll in and take whatever I'm allowed to take? A tiny parcel of land is more than enough for me, if that's okay? -bats his lashes adorably.-
