Imperfect subjunctive is fun, though, and sometimes you even need it. *shrug*

Oh crap. I didn't know that this was starting so soon. I'll be out of town for the next week (already am), do not expect me to do my translation until then. I'd be very happy if I could somehow be moved to later...

EDIT: then again my deadline isn't until the 18th, I can make that. Sorry to lose my team its lead though.

You can't. You should have notified me of that before we started, frankly. I did point out that I'd be beginning it about 4 days after I originally posted the topic, which is exactly what I did. But yeah, your deadline is the 18th, so you've got time yet.

Out of a spirit of chivalry towards Zoris, I will wait until Monday to start my translation.

By which I mean that I also have an engagement– I'll be out of town this weekend. I apologize profusely; I hadn't realized the telephone would move nearly this fast– after all, Monday would still be nine days ahead of schedule. So unless Lyhoko sends the translation to me tonight, until Monday.

The original was 276 words, which isn't that much longer than #2. Also, I offered to trim it, but finlay decided not to. Also, I doubt difficulty of PT text is really that well correlated to length - if anything, extra context might prevent some semantic shifts.

Well, at the very least extra length simply makes the task more difficult– there's more to do, and less attention to any given part. For example, I'm about (maybe a bit less) than half-way through, but I'm sure my translation is riddled with errors, partly because of my sleep-deprived state, and partly because there are always mistakes. The less text there is to check, the more carefully I check a given part in the same amount of time.

Also, all of you people who do this from non-native language to non-native language are AWESOME. I'm finding it tough enough to just go out of English with this and make sure the next guy has some vague idea what I'm saying.
