I don't even... he's speaking for about 2 seconds there! :? Why don't you shoot a longer movie? Even a minute long would be good...

Your friend always speaks more than you!
Anyway, he's pretty chill for doing it at all.

Based on your translations, I think there should be some drawing of hot girls in the intro. XD

I'll make sure to make a script long enough for him to sweat about all of the stuff that he has to remember the next time!

Anyway, I'm off to Iceland in a few hours! Good night!

I'm lost on the orthography too, although in my case this probably has more to do with being unable to properly discern unfamiliar sounds. It's pretty obvious that I'm not cut out, or would at least need a lot of training, for field linguistics, since from my mostly English/French background what I hear during the theme song is something like

  • aʊʒɔˈniœ
    tʃokɛˈranahoˈtam
    zɛntɛniˈram

    ʎoxamːaːˈmɪn̩
    daˈwiɛθi̵ɾˈlu
    xriˈoʃolta

which, going by the written lyrics, is quite far from the intended output.

I got something more like:

    ʃʲonkeranːa ʍŏista
    zenterijam̥

    ʎoxamːamin̥
    dawi ɛθalu

I guess when he's back, we need to badger Skomakar'n for his IPA :P

I'm curious about the meaning of the dialog in the 4th video. Skomakar'n, you should post the English translation of videos when you post them here.

Your ears are not too far off! The spelling isn't completely 1:1, though. Like I said, this is not actual Kozea, but a very, very conservative descendant spoken about a thousand years later. Spelling has not been changed much, so I wanted to reflect this in the romanisation as well.

A sēonéngath,
/a ʃɔːnˈɛŋað/
Sēonkêrannā Hwōistām,
/ʃɔːnˈkɛːranːa ˈʍɔɪ̯staːm/
zentêryîrām.
/zɛnˈtɛːrjˈiːraːm/
Lyôkámmaām inn?
/ˈʎɔːqˈamːaaːm ɪnː/
Dāwí ēthair, lōgo,
/daːˈwɪ ˈɛːðaɪ̯r lɔː/
xri ōsoildath!
/xrɪ ˈɔːsʲɔɪ̯ldaːð/

Stress and length are not always the same as here, since it's a song and it also has to fit the melody, but this would be the most pure pronunciation in regular speech, at least.

Half of it is the same as in the first we posted:

- Hey! Hwōistā!
- Hm?
- Did you see that girl at Nöiz's party yesterday?
- No.
- Hm.

Which one of them is you?
Anyway, I love the last part of the third video (where he/you says "that's my sister!") and the laughing part in the second video. Keep making them :D

Episode 5!

Translation for the curious:

Sēonkêrā: Hey! Hwōistā! What's this?!
Hwōistā: My life is rubbish! I have nothing to live for!
Sēonkêrā: You, for one, have lots to live for!
Hwōistā: ... (like what?)
Sēonkêrā: Um...
Hwōistā: I knew it!
Sēonkêrā: No!

Actually, he kinda does. (IIRC, Sko is the blonde one.)

He does have the blonde hair, but he's not quite so fabulous and sparkly. Though I do remember in one of the older iterations(?) of the member photo thread thinking he was a (slightly embarrassed to say) vaguely pretty girl. (he also had black hair at the time... and a bra on, so there's that)

That is funny :)
But can you include subtitles in video description... or at least give a link to the thread to every video, so I can open it and see translation.

Also, YouTube has a way of inserting subtitles. You can figure that out.

It's pretty nice, though since this time the text is much more important, it really does annoy that there is no immediate translation.

The ZBB is exclusive in that it is the only place where I actually put up translations, haha. The whole point of the channel is really just to have a weird one up there, where unknowing people would not know just what the heck it was.

We both attended a wedding a few days ago, so maybe he has been inspired, and will do that before the week is over!

The long blonde hair doesn't help.

Might want to be careful with that music though -- Disney is EXTREMELY protective of their IP.

Well, this isn't really commercial in any way.

Well, in fact, even if it were, I'm pretty sure if falls under fair use. But neither of those will prevent someone from submitting a take down notice, which would automatically remove the video (or possibly just the sound) until you defend yourself. Just keep an eye out for emails from YouTube.

Yeah, US copyright law is ridiculously draconian and insane.

It's possible, yes, although I wouldn't worry because you're only going to garner 100 views or so. They only care if their attention is actively drawn towards it.

True, unless one of their bots happens to catch it, though I imagine those look into pageviews as well -- for reasons of efficiency. And yes, these companies have bots that crawl video sites and automatically send take down notices. Did I mention it was insane?

Episode 6!

Once again, the translation is exclusive to the ZBB and thus does not appear in the video.

Sēonkêrā: […] so, he said 'nice shirt, cutie'.
Sēonkêrā: Eh? That was a good one, was it not?
Hwōistā: ... I... I'll go and get myself something more to drink...
Sēonkêrā: 'Nice shirt, cutie'...
Sēonkêrā: Hey... Hwōistā... What is that, that you're drinking?
Hwōistā: I don't really know... The name sounds like the word 'hat'*...
Sēonkêrā: You... You're drinking... hat*..?
Hwōistā: Yeah.
Sēonkêrā: Hm.

* Kozea has no word for 'coffee', since the culture that it is connected to has no coffee. On the other hand, there is the word 'kafêi', that does sound a lot like it, but actually means 'hat' or 'mask'. This video shows what maybe could have happened the first time a Kozean person somehow appeared in our world, getting to taste a cup of coffee.
