Really I refer to myself as Scot-Irish, not because I'm an immigrant, it is only because I am interested in my ancestry, I love studying world history and other languages and strange cultures, myths and legends.
like those weirdo Scots-Irish savages, eh?
is that people get very touchy about the issue of race.
oy gevalt, and you have no idea why? you can't extrapolate from what barriers your own ancestors faced, Paddy?
You never know how PC or non-PC the forum community is.
I'm glad to see that this forum is not the politically correct gestapo.
that's down the hall. This forum is the inquisition.
Also the "consequences" are nothing really.
why ask a question you don't consider important enough to have answered?
While I conworld for the fun of it course, I do have it planned in my mind to use the world as a setting for my fiction writing. And some people got offended about Tolkien's Haradrim and Easterlings, even though Middle-earth is a mythical version of Europe.
yes, because its obvious that the only function of dark people in Europe is to be evil.
Or do you think that people are people and that you don't deal with them?
You don't think people are people?
The question that I am now facing, and the dilemma that I am bringing to the forum, is, to put it bluntly, what to do with black people? Because my world is very geographically different from our world. For one, mine is more of a massive Pangea like landmass. And it is bisected right in the middle by the equator. Where on Earth the big divide is East and West, in my world it is North and South. While I known and acknowledge that black people did have civilizations like the Ethiopians etc., they never had the wealth of history that the Eurasians had. And I believe in the assessment of Jared Diamond's Guns Germs and Steel that a reason for this is geography. The Sahara is one of the most impenetrable boundaries for human movement. Also Africa never had the large east-west temperate axis that Eurasia had, which makes trade, and advanced agriculture very difficult. Also once you pass the Sahara then you have the jungles which adds a further barrier to movement and trade and subsequently advanced civilizations.
Then where's the Great And Glorious Irish Civilization, full of amazing things not seen in England or Europe; since it lacked the barrier that Africa had.
(the Sahara is not the great wall you think it is)
they never had the wealth of history that the Eurasians had.
What do you mean?
I second the question raised by Pthug and Qwynegold.
I guess a much better way to phrase this whole post is how do you guys deal with the different human races in your own conworlds? Or do you think that people are people and that you don't deal with them?
phrase it however you like...you still have to answer the question asked of you.
