Arka: an a priori conlang with 14,000 words from Japan
Re: Arka: an a priori conlang with 14,000 words from Japan
Guys, guys. He's playing us out against each other.
If I stop posting out of the blue it probably is because my computer and the board won't cooperate and let me log in.!
Re: Arka: an a priori conlang with 14,000 words from Japan
I said I was done posting on the other thread, and I am done posting on this one too. This is my last post in this thread, only to say that Shrdlu is exactly correct. He's just being purposely antagonistic because he knows he can get a response, negative or positive; a quintessential troll. So just stop posting on this one and that one. See you guys in some other threads!

Agreed, I propose locking both again.clawgrip wrote:I said I was done posting on the other thread, and I am done posting on this one too. oh come on... so sanitized. play in the mud sometimes. your mum does!
[oh, fuck, that belonged in that other thread]
also, the more I read about this aoa fellow, the less remorse I feel for jumping in the bandwagon and laughing at him, I mean... come.ON
as for him being a troll, well, it'd have to be a VERY dedicated one.

He admitted to being a troll, Torco. In Japanese.Torco wrote: as for him being a troll, well, it'd have to be a VERY dedicated one.

really? why can't trolls have the civility to announce their trollness in the speech of the land ?Vuvgangujunga wrote:He admitted to being a troll, Torco. In Japanese.Torco wrote: as for him being a troll, well, it'd have to be a VERY dedicated one.

I'll explain for the last time: he had the power.Torco wrote:really? why can't trolls have the civility to announce their trollness in the speech of the land ?Vuvgangujunga wrote:He admitted to being a troll, Torco. Also, he's an attention whorus (I wonder if he has a pronoun for that that would've warned us in Arka - apparently there's something stupid going on with them).
Still, close the thread!!

We got this one on the CBB now. -_-

I wonder how the Author of Arka would respond to this.

Was one of the 14,000 words "fart", or did he neglect to coin that word because it wasn’t politically serious enough

Re: Arka: an a priori conlang with 14,000 words from Japan
I'm Shizuka Mizuki, one of the authors of Arka language.
I'm using AoA's account. Sorry for the trouble.
中の人に僕の名の下で海外遠征をしてもらっていたのですが問題が生じたため遠征は中止しました。
공동제작자 중 한 사람에게 그간 저의 이름으로 해외 원정을 부탁해 왔으나, 불미스러운 일을 일으켰기 때문에 원정을 중지하고 영어 번역 작업도 중지하였습니다.
One of my co-authors had advertised our language abroad under the chief author's name for more than a year, but I heard that the person caused a trouble. I had been uploading the person's translation to our sites, but I quitted doing it because of the trouble.

So... will any of you ever present the actual language? It's been so many pages already, and so far I have yet to see a single thing about the language explained or introduced—not even a single word. Links to the site don't help because we don't know Japanese. Assertions like "Arka is best conlang" are completely useless (you don't "advertise" a conlang as if it were a TV product saying it's "the best", what you do is to talk about whatever special things it has to get the attention of other conlangers).Author of Arka wrote:中の人に僕の名の下で海外遠征をしてもらっていたのですが問題が生じたため遠征は中止しました。

oOOO, that supports the troll hypotheses.

Re: Arka: an a priori conlang with 14,000 words from Japan
Yes they have. It's just that they presented it as lessons, instead of a reference grammar. Which, like most everything else that seems odd about Arka, can be easily explained by the hypothesis that they don't appear to place as high a value on knowledge of linguistics as we do. (And conversely, we don't care as much about lexicon.)Torco wrote:really? the Arka guys haven't presented anything about the lang?

Anyway, probably the reason that the original AoA guy trolled so hard is that the thread got trolled pretty hard??? And it's an interesting conlang, just, the guy had no idea how the ZBB works.

conlang plus manga-style faces? I see this conlang getting places!
<c>=[r] ? that's weicd, but why not I guess.
also, the grammar looks rather uninteresting, but there's nothing wrong with that.

Re: Arka: an a priori conlang with 14,000 words from Japan
Good. I might make them a favour and write a linguistic article on frathwiki summarizing what they present there. I do think it's worth looking at it nonetheless.Nortaneous wrote:Yes they have.Torco wrote:really? the Arka guys haven't presented anything about the lang?

Wait, we don't? We should! Lexicography and semantics are part of linguistics too after all.(And conversely, we don't care as much about lexicon.)
Re: Arka: an a priori conlang with 14,000 words from Japan
Yes, but he kind of claimed lexicography was everything, and grammar (which he seemed to reduce to morphology) was nothing.Sinjana wrote:Wait, we don't? We should! Lexicography and semantics are part of linguistics too after all.(And conversely, we don't care as much about lexicon.)

I'm gonna have a weird feeling when the next Conlangery episode comes out tomorrow. You'll see why.
