التلفون المتعدد اللغات ١٦ (Polyglottal Telephone XVI)

Bloody ambiguous Semitic scripts. xD

I'm glad that mine made sense most of the time - Danish is like my worst language.

I dropped "Hy" because I couldn't figure it out, and since the other names were normal, it didn't occur to me that it could be a name. I couldn't tell if هاي was "he" misspelled, or a colloquialism that just happened to slip into the literary Arabic meaning "this one (f)" or "this way." :\\\

Oh dear. Heheh. I was so sure the text was from The Legend of Zelda or something.
Funny: canister > packet > package > packet > bag > bottle
They both are.Serafín wrote:Fabulous > "like a fable". Norwegian "tappet" was interpreted as "he dropped"—is this some other couple of false friends, but between Norwegian and Swedish?
The sentences were too long!!!Serafín wrote:Various commas were converted into periods too.

I don't know about Danish, but in Swedish it would be natural to use that word in that context.Serafín wrote:Not sure whether "kæmper" 'to fight' was a good choice to translate "make his way".

I actually used "bag" in Arabic, so it was more like:Qwynegold wrote:Funny: canister > packet > package > packet > bag > bottle

Oh, I just came back to see this. Hilarious! My favourite change is how "Not one for the customers" went to "If you sing a song like that I can no longer withdraw from this situation" (and then on to the final sentence). Not to mention
"Fine," Hy says, "Somebody help me over . . . there with my juice."
to
“and here the same words. The help that your little genes have brought is crusty,” she said.
It didn't even occur to me that "fabelaktig" was meant to be "fabulous" and not "like a fable", and that "tappe" was "tap" and not "drop", heh.

No, it's because I don't, apparently! You translated it right, I misunderstood because of Swedish interference.Mr. Z wrote:That is because I don't really know any NorwegianUlrike Meinhof wrote:It didn't even occur to me that "fabelaktig" was meant to be "fabulous" and not "like a fable", and that "tappe" was "tap" and not "drop", heh.
