Phonetics Thread

Post by sirdanilot »

This board is mostly geared towards historical linguistics and descriptive linguistics, I think, but why not a thread on phonetics too. Post all your phonetics-related questions and discussions and informations and findings here.

So I want to write something on nasality, and I have overheard *somewhere* that low vowels such as /æ/ tend to be pronounced nasally as the velum is opened more during their articulation. But now I don't have a source for this. Would someone know a source explaing such basic concepts?
