“Get it across” game.

“Get it across” game.

Post by Dama Diwan »

An idea for a game i have not seen in any place, though there are similar games based on sequence of posts. I call them RINO KUJO “sequence games”.

The point is, give a word, or an expression, or a phrase, and maybe reach even to a short story, without a translation of the whole word/expression/phrase/story, but with a glossing of all the constituents. Then the person who reads that glossing will give a translation according to his/her understanding; and then give the next glossed word/expression/phrase/story for the next person to translate, and so on.
For example, imagine i find (in the supposedly previous post) the Toki Pona term “moku soweli” glossed as “food-animal”; i tentatively translate as “meat”, and then give my own expression for the next person to translate:

NEXT EXPRESSION: kibo wiwo
Gloss: KIBO=long, WIWO=water. (head last word order in Dama Diwan).

(now waiting for the next person to translate, and then give his/her expression for translation)
i kiwa jenon naje, nake, nibe, sake ka:

But the river tripped on her by and by, lapping
as though her heart was brook: Why, why, why! Weh, O weh
I'se so silly to be flowing but I no canna stay!
