Almean Population

Post by Shades Of Grey »

THIS IS A CENSUS STUDY OF ALMEAN POPULATION... OR NOT.

Zomp,
What is the population of Almea in terms of the Uesti, how about the other races?

I don't have set figures, but I'd estimate about 600 million uesti. As a point of comparison, Earth population was about 525 million in 1648, and about 900 million in 1815. Almea has fewer high-population areas, however.

There are probably about 100 million ilii, though only a few hundred thousand live on land at any one time.

Elcari, perhaps 20 million, due to their very restricted habitat. There are probably only 200,000 or so ktuvoks. There are a few million flaids and ic?lani.

On the map, Flora seem to be quite small - is it very densely poulated? Or is there a substantial Flaid diaspora in other places?

Btw, is Flora the native name or the Verdurian name ?
If it's Verdurian, what's the Flaidish for Flora ?

It's both; but by Flaidish phonological rules, the native name is pronounced /'flu r&/.

As for population, it's fairly urbanized by Almean standards.

This is excellent :D Finally a fantasy world I have read about that has had a 'realistic' population figure for it. You get the impression in Lord Of the Rings that there are only a few thousand elves, hobbits, etc.

This isn't really big enough for a topic of its own, so i'll ask it here.

How long lived are the Iliu? i can't seem to find any refrences to it.

Somewhere around a thousand years. (The best evidence on this so far is the list of iliu kings in the Count of Years.)
