Good coffee is at its best when it's black and unsweetened.
It also isn't that easy to come by. (I blame Starbucks and Nespresso; that's okay coffee, not good coffee).

The bad part: why am I so slow? I used to be able to write 2000 words on a bad day, 4000 on a good one.
Now I'm struggling to reach 1000 words a day.
When I read this, I knew I'd be posting something similar soon.

And now I am. Only I can barely write at all. 800 words in two days :(

Maybe you'll feel better knowing that I found a solution to the issue. It turns out I was telling the story the wrong way: I kept introducing complicated exposition right at the beginning; I realized that the story would work best as a murder mystery, and should be written like one.
That gave me an idea for a reworked first chapter, greatly reduced in exposition and a lot less boring to write.
That one was written quickly.

I want to grow facial hair because I can, but my partner doesn't want me to, says he can't stand it. I'd love if he grew some facial hair but he can't and he won't.

He probably won't, though he says he would (probably just exaggeration), and he'd probably be quite mad at me. I think he had a bad experience with an ex with facial hair and he doesn't want to be reminded of it? Something like that.

Yes, but I do. I think they are a fine sign of masculine maturity. And therein lies the problem.

Your husband or boyfriend or w/e does not own you and can't override your decisions on your own body. If he cannot understand that, you're (pl.) gonna have a bad time.

And ignoring the likes/dislikes of your significant other is not usually a good idea...

He'd give in to me if I wanted it badly enough, but that's also not very healthy to just give in to keep the peace.

I guess we still need to work on that one key thing: C-O-M-M-U-N-I-C-A-T-I-O-N. Compromise would be nice too but his idea of compromise is just giving into me.

Come on, guys. It's facial hair. No relationship ever ended over facial hair.

I suggest you compromise and go for permastubble.

Yes relationships have, though I'd rather not use that as evidence.

Well, maybe some relationships have. But if your SO is willing to break up over facial hair, that's sort of a big red flag. So my point still stands.
(OK, this does not apply to neckbeards. Or porn staches. Or unibrows.)

you're not going to get past mere *signs* of 'masculine maturity'. the point of 'masculine maturity' is that it means you're ready to produce offspring and no matter how deep you stick your dick in him [incidentally, please don't correct any hasty generalisations i make] that's never going to happen.

you are chasing a phantom

Well that's perfectly reasonable. I had a bad experience with an ex once. He had a dick and balls. So because my partner loves me, he had his hacked off.

is this just you attempting the High Speech, or is, in fact, the problem that your clone does not want you to display signs of/acquire "masculine maturity"?

Why not a pilot period? Try it for a month, if he still hates it, then you shave. Who knows--maybe having facial hair won't be as rewarding as you think it will be.
