In Himmaswa, Thanksgiving may be translated as "Chaot Fpooayng'laang" (Day of Giving Appreciation) or "Laangchaot" (Appreciation Day). Phonetically it can be represented as "Taanggeybiang" (become accessible be faint/slight spirit).

My boyfriend can't spend Christmas with me. But I thought Christmas wasn't important to Japanese families. Actually, New year is important, and his grandmother died this year, so he has to spend a week with his family. Damn...

(basically, i'm a bit upset about this because i decided to stay in japan under the impression that i would get to spend time with him, i'm feeling lonely now, and i don't know what i will do or who i will spend christmas with instead - it's now too expensive to change my mind and go back to the uk)

Do you have any friends who aren’t leaving Japan? Maybe you could have a party with them or something.
