I think the idea behind them is that the symbol of the whole country is composed of those of the capital in the centre and the three regions in the corners.sirred wrote:Must be a bitch if there's a civil war and you're color-blind and trying to find friendlies.

Re: Flags
I figured I'd resurrect this thread rather than start a new one, seeing as there's some nice stuff here.
This is the Icastrian flag: the Árumoahalez ([ˈaːɾʊˌmoaˌhaləs]), the Sun Wheel Flag.
This is the Icastrian flag: the Árumoahalez ([ˈaːɾʊˌmoaˌhaləs]), the Sun Wheel Flag.
The green field represents the old-growth forests which cover much of Icastria, and which hold a very important place in Icastrian religion and folklore. The árumoa ("sun wheel"), a symbol of interlocking swastikas composed of four arms or eight chevrons, is an ancient and sacred symbol of Icastria; it is also used as the insignia of the Icastrian government.
The white ensign, a hlá mastahalez, is the Icastrian naval ensign. It is commonly used in the imperial provinces, but is not used on land in metropolitan Icastria. The flags of the Icastrian provinces are white ensigns defaced with symbols of these nations on the fly (white) side. Some smaller provinces have no flag of their own, and use an undefaced white ensign. In the provinces, the Árumoahalez is flown only on colonial government buildings.

My thoughts as well. I have no idea whether it's real or just an elaborate joke. I just know that I have seen that flag.CatDoom wrote:That... that can't possibly be an actual thing, can it?

Re: Flags
Nazism and Green politics go together about as well as cesium and fluorine. Or gangsta rap and progressive rock. The LNSGP (I have heard of it, too) probably is a joke.

I can believe in environmentalist libertarians.
By accepting humanity's incredible capacity for doublethink, I can even believe in libertarian Nazis.
But environmentalist libertarian Nazis... now I'm afraid you've lost me.

Re: Flags
Yes, what seems so absurd about it is the combination of elements in its entirety, not to mention the flag they purportedly use.

The LNSGP is not riddled with contradictions like some people claim it is, they should open their minds a bit.
Re: Flags
These are the various flags of the Unified Light Nation, aka Sunfall.
This is the general flag of Sunfall, flown during peace, and most holidays or celebratory occasions.
This is the wartime flag of Sunfall.
This is the full flag of the Sunfall nation. The red does not represent war, but battle in general; Sunfall is a major defensive player in a world with a big monster problem. The white represents peace, safety, etc. etc., and the color black has no special meaning. The circle stands for unity, as Sunfall is made up of three formerly opposed kingdoms, and the bar is there to make this look less like the Japanese flag.
This flag is mostly flown during or after a monster attack.
This is the variant most commonly seen at meetings of the three royal families, among the three sorts of nobles, at the borders between old countries, and during times of national stress. It stands specifically for the unity of the three kingdoms.
Blue and purple are not traditionally distinguished colors, and there are more purple than blue dye-flowers in Sunfall; so while these flags are more often purple, they are intended to evoke blue, and the base binding element water.
This is the flag flown outside of the country. Sunfall belongs to a cultural area that practices a lot of superstition in travel; for instance, everyone is referred to with the masculine gender outside of their homeland, since traditionally only men ever traveled. Also, people from families and clans who travel away from their home territories typically wear scarves and poncho-like clothing on top of anything else which tells where they are from; this is based on that practice.
The yellow here represents the element of air, which in turn stands for travel here.
The other element, earth, commonly shown as red, is slightly more complicated. Red represents earth represents femininity and the body of the goddess, so it's like a reminder of what is being defended.
These next flags are supposed to evoke a sense of unity while also a sense of pride in one's traditional kingdom. They are for the Northern, Middle, and Southern kingdoms respectively, and are thus commonly flown only in the northern, middle, and southern areas.
And here are the flags of the three old kingdoms. Northern, Middle, Southern; Official, Military/Wartime, Domestic/Peacetime, and Travel.
The northern flags represent a beach, as the north is the area most exposed to the outside world (notice the coloring of red/danger and yellow/strange is in only the 'foreigner' circle.) And to represent the dominance of fishing culture, a million miles of beautiful coastline, etc.
The middle flag is based on an ancient powerful megaconstruct called the 'Tower', which is where that kingdom derived all of its power. (This flag can be flown sideways (or right-ways up), but that is generally only done to assert old Middle superiority, e.g. to be a douchebag.)
The southern flags are based on the Light mountains - a series of ranges which are tall enough to touch the pool of light magic at the top of the sky.
I'm going to take the sudden lack of posts after my post as a sign that my flags aren't bad enough to complain about. Cool.

Here is the flag of my concountry/micronation, the Safirian Empire.
The three bands of the flag come from the three major countries on the Safirian subcontinent in the centuries preceding Unification:

Yeah, flags... I should finish the flag of Sajiwa one of these days, but I'm still torn between a number of options... I probably already posted in this thread a couple years ago, but if not, my avatar is the Kotanian flag, which symbolizes the union of the blue and white countries, unified by the orange sun that shines on them both.

Re: Flags
Hey, I finally got around to making flags for Transemilia.
After its independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Kingdom of Transemilia adopted this flag:
The monarchy was overthrown at the end of World War II by the Communist Party of Transemilia (with help from the Red Army), and a 1946 referendum declared the People's Republic of Transemilia, which adopted this flag:
Of course, the military and its three branches each have their own flags as well:
