Imralu, if you read closely, I wasn't commenting on Finlay's complaint on English; but on his claiming speakers of other languages who don't cater to his nationalistic sensibilities are ignorant. That's not the only reason it happens. I assumed nothing, he did claim that. Before I wasn't intervening.

Everyone's told me "Berlin's not Germany! Berlin is Berlin." I haven't really travelled much around Germany, so I can't confirm.
In Israel too they say "Medinat Tel Aviv", the State of Tel Aviv, because the city is such a bubble in the State of Israel.

It's not "nationalist" or even controversial to say that Scotland and England are different, though. I stg it's always the fucking same though: when you say this to a european you always start telling us we're being picky or that it's irrelevant.

Oh lol "European vs British" now! That's not what I was saying at all, but I'm tired so take it as you will. FWIW, I don't think it's irrelevant.

Though it may help to point out that I was talking about Portuguese and Spanish, which are AFAIK the only two romance ""European"" languages in which this metonymy is acceptable (not in French, apparently - I don't know for Italian, Romanian or others like German).

Miré unos dibujos animados de Homestar Runner anoche.
I watched some Homestar Runner cartoons last night.

I found it for the first time a few weeks before the never-ending hiatus, but even then I got hooked.

Even though they didn't make anything new, it was still new to me.

Homestar Runner-- Pom Pom, también
Homestar Runner, ¡te queremos!

Homestar Runner-- Pom Pom, too
Homestar Runner, we love you!

While I was eating in one of the school cafes, I was daydreaming and thinking about stuff. I was thinking about what I will do for a career in Linguistics, and I really think being a professor would be a nice job for me. What do you all think about teaching jobs? A couple of you are teachers/professors, right?

Firstly, if you want to do something, you can do it despite any obstacles or other things.
Secondly, how does that compare to other countries like France or Britain ?
(I am thinking of the same idea for a job.)

Me too. And I can't really say that it didn't play a part as the thought was taking shape to one day move to Berlin..

I went on a second date tonight. He's nice and I found myself unable to stop staring at him. At the end, there was a little kiss. :-)

Today everyone said it's going to snow tomorrow. I like snow, but I think just one day is enough. But if it rains, I think I can't go by bike. But maybe I won't have to go to work. I don't know how to feel...

(pretty sure the last sentence is wrong)

I saw something rather funny on Buzzfeed. Someone was complaining because she'd had to use a maxi pad instead of a tampon, and she was afraid that other people would think she had a fat vagina.

C'est quoi, ça, une "vagine grosse" ?
What exactly is a "fat vagina?"

Partiellement, c'est un dérivé mullérien.
Partly, a Müllerian derivate.

Do you guys think that you can have a big belly, a fat butt, but a vagina like a 110 lb girl? Fat goes everywhere when you gain weight, usually. I'm not too interested in it either, but their anatomy isn't all that different from ours!
