Culture voting - RESULTS Wed 3/5
Re: Culture voting - Thru Wed 3/5
Gonna total up votes tomorrow, so the polls are still open for 11 hours or so.
Re: Culture voting - Thru Wed 3/5
haven't read enough to give a proper, informed vote [i've been bogged down in jobstuff for the whole week, like... stay-until-midnight-at-the-conference-table jobstuff, eugh] but I just want to express my appreciation for the Lulweon.
also, rest in peace my half-written CCC culture. oh, well

Your absence has been noticed. Hope your workload lessens enough to get stuck into more rounds of the CCC.Torco wrote:haven't read enough to give a proper, informed vote [i've been bogged down in jobstuff for the whole week, like... stay-until-midnight-at-the-conference-table jobstuff, eugh]
No! You can submit your culture for future culture rounds. Just hold onto it and submit it later.Torco wrote:also, rest in peace my half-written CCC culture. oh, well

is that so? maybe I will. No! You can submit your culture for future culture rounds. Just hold onto it and submit it later.
yeah, it was a proposal for a highly formalized bidding war <we call them licitación, no idea what they're called in english... google says "tender" is the word> into which the company got invited like a week before closing, so it was kind of frantic.

Re: Culture voting - RESULTS Wed 3/5
I'm thoroughly disturbed. I just received this message from the Dragolm...
"We are the Dragolm. Lower your borders and surrender your lands. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile."
Thanks for the votes! (I think)

Yeah. Let's do that back in the Land Grab thread, where I've uploaded a new map.Mornche Geddick wrote:So what's next? Do we claim our new squares?
Re: Culture voting - RESULTS Wed 3/5
Curses! My Ngoor were tied for second place before the last two votes! Ah well, congratulations to Sal and Bofosh; it appears that the best hideous cyborgs have indeed won.
I do like how the most successful cultures are primarily composed of the most dominant species from the last round, though I suppose that makes sense considering that it was theoretically the same group of people voting each time. I'm also a little glad that my poor, long-suffering cynocephali are, for the most part, far, far away from the unstoppable armies of insane golems that are about to explode onto the scene.

Yes, and may they enjoy a few more years of peace. Next time I go on holiday it might be with your cynocephali. Think I'll take a small boat and fish my time away.CatDoom wrote:I'm also a little glad that my poor, long-suffering cynocephali are, for the most part, far, far away from the unstoppable armies of insane golems that are about to explode onto the scene.

Well, and as a rebellious faction, but more I cannot say, otherwise I'd have to send my Stonedragons after you.

One continent, two prima facie incompatibly insane golem empires. This may require some thinking...

At least they're there. And you have a huge continent. I have an Ireland-sized island, and a now a few more, probably totalling England, maybe even Great Britain.ol bofosh wrote:As mindless slaves...KathAveara wrote:I'm glad that dragons are a part of one of the empires.![]()

Re: Culture voting - RESULTS Wed 3/5
Any idea what the time span will be for the next round of development?
Re: Culture voting - RESULTS Wed 3/5
From the roadmap, the next step is language creation. I'd kind of like to get to that, if nothing else so we have names for the planet and its continents.
As part of that, though, I'd like people to consider how their cultures got bigger (or didn't, if you want to decline or fracture instead).
Languages do take time, so if you like, suggest an alternative for the next stage....

Re: Culture voting - RESULTS Wed 3/5
I've already started preliminary work on the Ccuxu and En languages, and a phonology for Domun, but if a lot of time passes then we'll have to evolve daughter languages and dialects for them I guess. That's where it might be nice to have people take over splinter groups from other people's cultures, to take languages in ways the created may not have expected.
I wonder if we can develop some sort of semi-standardized language presentation format for this.

I like that idea. It's something I can follow (my efforts will be limited anyway). Maybe we can do a naming language + more, a few example sentences as well as names for continents, lakes and so on.clawgrip wrote:I wonder if we can develop some sort of semi-standardized language presentation format for this.
I have been working on something for all three cultures. But I'll see how much I can do (today's the last day of some translating - I should have more free time). I may even delegate some conlang work to others if they're interested.
It was about time I changed this.
