Homestar Runner updated!

Not only did the Parti Québecois lose the provincial election, but Pauline Maurois lost her seat! Yaaaay!
Re: Happy Things Thread
Great news of today:
jStor bugs out and I was able to access any article I wanted, but now they seem to have taken the article database off-line. Pretty quick reactions.
edit: or maybe I'm just stupid.

Is anybody else participating in the International Linguistics Olympiad?

More like you love speaking a language. IME Google Translate is crap for all languages and all dialects and all registers and stuff.

Re: Happy Things Thread
I've just gone a whole week without waking up in the night. Can't remember when that last happened. I wish I knew what I was doing right, but happy all the same!

I finally have the spare time to rework and add to my Akana-langs. In today's productivity Empotle7á got one new phoneme (/t͡ɬʰ/) and its morphophonological processes have more complications because of sound changes.

I have eighteen (teaching) days left until I can finally leave my final placement school.

There are few bands I can listen to what feels like again and again on low volume in the background and Megadeth is one of them. Countdown to Extinction is currently playing in background and it makes me remember the few happy times I had in my childhood and this for once without interference from the all the bad memories thought I can feel that they are there.

WE BEAT SPAIN 5-1 HAHAHAHA
(I actually feel a little sorry, because I quite like Spain/many Spaniards, but you know, we did lose the 2010 final against them)

If I were Dutch, I'd be furious. Your team was actually much better in 2010, and Spain weren't much better (and had struggled through the entire tournament). If you'd actually played football 4 years ago, you'd probably have won the world cup. Instead, like most teams, you were terrified of them and refused to attack them and instead spent the entire match just trying to kick them in the head.din wrote:WE BEAT SPAIN 5-1 HAHAHAHA

Well I was furious, 4 years ago. Of course it's too late now, but it's a new chance

I am getting married today!
Re: Happy Things Thread
As of about a year ago, I have decided to pursue linguistics as an official career. This is going splendidly — I've even presented at a conference already as an undergraduate. Additionally, I am in a loving relationship after many years of loneliness.

Casillas wasn't as his best, and neither were the other players. Spain sucked hard this time.If I were Dutch, I'd be furious. Congratulations Caesar

Re: Happy Things Thread
Congratulations, Caesar! And good luck with your plans Tropylium.
Mrs. K and I went to London on Saturday to meet our fifteen guests who we'd asked along to see our son's final performance at drama school. In effect, the class were taking an exam in front of hundreds of people. They all did well, though, in their version of Brecht's "The good person of Sze-Chuan". It was a stunning show.

I'm on holiday in the Provence. It's 27+C. In the rest of Europe it's about 14.

In the next month, I'm restarting a PGCE (post-grad teacher training), starting a BSL course and launching a pilot scheme helping young people with disabilities get paying work. Also, it's my birthday soon.

I start my NQT year on Monday. Pretty terrified. What are you doing your PGCE in?Gulliver wrote:In the next month, I'm restarting a PGCE (post-grad teacher training), starting a BSL course and launching a pilot scheme helping young people with disabilities get paying work.
