CCC - New (sub)culture round - VOTE by 1/4
CCC - New (sub)culture round - VOTE by 1/4
Some people have asked about the dear old CCCP, so there seems to be interest in continuing.
If you're interested, what would you like to see next? Here's some ideas, but if you have another one, tell us!
* A Subculture Round: pick a subgroup as a faction or relative of an existing group, anywhere in the timeline, and tell us about its early development. The top winners can take over the larger culture. (If the originator doesn't want that, we can work out something else.)
* Cooperative development of a language family in a particular area.
* CCCP: The Presequel. The stories so far have implied a previous stage of civilization. Describe it and how it fell apart; the winner becomes canon.
In any case, you don't have to have participated before in order to get involved.

Difficult to make up my mind between 2 and 3.

Re: CCC - Planning new stuff!
I'm fine with any of them.
Re: CCC - Planning new stuff!
I like the first two options
Tana, Iáin voyre so Meď im soa mezinä, řo pro sudir soa mezinä, ac pro spasian soa mezinë ab ilun.
Re: CCC - Planning new stuff!
Option 2 is tempting, but I think I'd be interested in option 3 as a change of pace; I've been doing a lot of diachronic conlanging lately.

Re: CCC - Planning new stuff!
Option 2 sounds a lot like Akana, but it could be fun. How would we decide which area to focus on?
Since we know we're going to run out of steam again eventually, I vote for anything other than option 3.

We hold a preliminary voting round for the area.

I'm not sure... option 2, maybe? They all seem pretty interesting to me.

Guess I'll have to come up with some new stuff. I was supposed to bring in a foreign religion, and I have no idea about the drama round. I'm kind of behind.

Re: CCC - Planning new stuff!
I'm not sure if this is significant enough to actually have a round based on it, but has anyone else thought of a calendar/timekeeping system for any of the cultures?

Re: CCC - Planning new stuff!
I like all three ideas, but I especially like the third one.
It was about time I changed this.
Re: CCC - Planning new stuff!
Well, opinions are about as balanced as they could be.
We'll probably end up doing them all at some point, but for now let's do a variant of #1. To wit:
Either start a new culture, or a subculture, in one map square.
* If it's a subculture, it should not be part of your original culture. (E.g. I could do anyone but Torcs.)
* You can place it anywhere in the timeline we have so far.
(Clawgrip has already created one, so it's automatically entered. You can submit more than one.)
The reward will be like the original culture round: you can expand your people. If it's a subculture, you can expand either into the main culture's territory, or into neighboring areas.

At this point, I should probably make note of this.
Also, for my new culture, I think I'm gonna go ahead and claim I-5 for some hummins this time.

Re: CCC - Planning new stuff!
Ha ha, I actually need to work on my original culture (yanno, actually make it reasonably done) more than start a new one, so I'm just gonna keep procrastinating on that.
Re: CCC - Planning new stuff!
If anyone's interested, there are 5-6 "NPC" cultures around the En Soki. One is Qiqqit's munkee culture which he gave up before developing, and the others are ones created to give the region some more character. For most of them, one or two details have been set, but the rest is open to be developed.
If anyone is interested, they can be found here:

Re: CCC - Planning new stuff!
So, when are we gonna get the official thread for submitting these new cultures?
Re: CCC - New (sub)culture round - Due 12/31
It's this one, now!
I gave it plenty of time because of finals and holidays and stuff.

Re: CCC - New (sub)culture round - Due 12/31
I plan to participate! Now I just have to pick a culture from the map...

My first submission can be found here: The Ayīt
I'm thinking of developing the neglected Ggazzei as well, though I'm not sure if they count as a subculture. I guess they probably do, since the more powerful Cesɔn have a territory dispute with them.

Re: CCC - New (sub)culture round - Due 12/31
I think the idea is that you would make a "subculture" that has its roots in another culture. So you could make a subculture *of* the Ggazzei, rather than choosing the Ggazzei because they represent an existing subculture. That said, as far as I can recall, the last time we heard from the Ggazzei their civilization was in a deep decline, so if you created a resurgent "subculture" it would presumably becomes the new "main" culture.clawgrip wrote:I'm thinking of developing the neglected Ggazzei as well, though I'm not sure if they count as a subculture. Re: CCC - New (sub)culture round - Due 12/31
I don't know if you realized this, but the Ggazzei are already Claw's. They can't submit anything to do with them for this round. They're just talking about catching the Ggazzei up, since they've been neglecting them.
Re: CCC - New (sub)culture round - Due 12/31
I did not. What a fool I am! D:
Re: CCC - New (sub)culture round - Due 12/31
Hydroeccentricity and I swapped the Ccuxu and Ggazzei early on. I made the original culture and the language and he made up the whole Jwa subset of them. I didn't do anything with the Ggazzei, but I'm thinking I should do something now. Anyway, CatDoom's idea is likely what I'll go with for them anyway though. Seems the most likely course, even if it may not be eligible as a subculture for this round.
