Yea I know the Polish hate it and have all sorts of nicknames for it, but I have always been a fan of this sort of imposing grandiose almost dystopian-like architecture. Like Moscow State University as well.
It looks like something you'd find in Detroit. Maybe that's why you like it?

If by that you mean its clear Art Deco influences then perhaps. Art Deco is beautiful and attractive and very geometric which I've always enjoyed about the style.

Personally, I liked the Palace. It is definitely worth seeing.

His temporary username gave spoilers about the new Star Wars film. I can see that people would be disappointed if they got the film spoilt and I don't see any positive outcome possible, even for ThePole himself.

Ah, I thought it was something like that when I saw "Han." I thought Zomp had to approve all changes though?

I do believe that was the case once upon a time. When people started having the ability to change usernames at will there was a short period when people changed their usernames willy-nilly but it since died down.

Anyway, happy thing: eating ice cream is even better on a day like this, with the sun beating down on my brain freeze.

Well, maybe the people should stop pretending that reading the spoilers is a serious business and start enjoying the works regardless of whether they know the ending or not. Or am I mistaken and an unexpected ending is everything a good work has to offer?

A happy thing: today I finished watching the most recent episodes of the Doctor Who. It was very good, despite most of the main characters being incredibly annoying from time to time.

I couldn't finish the newest season which is very unusual for me because I'm a huge Who fan. It's not really that Capaldi isn't a good Doctor, he's fine but he's a tad boring to me, but I can't stand Coleman. She's so dang perfect, there's nothing about her that's remotely interesting. Clara is no Donna or even Amy or Martha (though I seem to be alone in liking her), but Clara is like Rose, she's just drab and boring.

Don't be so stupid, there are planes of existence that elements of a narrative can be in other than 'worthless' and 'the only thing a work has to offer'. It's a simple fact that people do find joy in discovering the end of a narrative in the context of the narrative, so it's hard to see why you'd spoil the ending except out of a misplaced sense of superiority over the plebs who actually like things.

Clara is far from perfect. She's a bossy control freak. She's rash. She can't get enough adventure. All of these are both strengths and weaknesses.

Yea but she's not bossy like Donna. She just fit the mold too well for an assistant and I didn't feel like she truly challenged the Doctor. But I stopped midway through the last season so perhaps things improved in the latter half.

The new incarnation is somewhat a gamechanger. The seasons with Eleventh were overflowing with CGI monsters and battles, and also astronomically [sic] huge intrigues. The new ones focus more on the history of Doctor and the background of his nemeses, and I must say I loved it.

I have a small issue with the way Capaldi's role is written in the season nine. In early season eight, the Doctor was starting as an arrogant stoic, a House-wannabe. And I had no troubles with that. And now, all of a sudden, he turns into a Marty-McFly-wannabe, riding a Dalek-chair like a go-kart and turning a Viking girl into his own age-mate. Whoah!

Yeah, Clara's uselessness is a common complaint about season 9. Regarding the season, it gets a bit boring in the middle, but the last two episodes are really worth it. I'd say you can safely skip episodes 6 to 9. These are mostly unconnected stories, only setting minor background elements. For the same reason, 3-4 could be skipped, but these are a much better watch.

Also, you could skip most of the episode 10, except for the ending, which is revisited later in the finale (what could I say, Moffat's law: whoever gets killed, must be resurrected).

Oh it's not everything but it's certainly part of it. It loses suspense. And as thrillers are one of my favourite genres, it's one of the most important things a work has to offer. And people can enjoy works for different reasons.

And works which are enjoyable due their characterisation are dependent on the actor, which is why I stopped watching Doctor Who when Matt Smith was in (though I suppose I haven't started again since Capaldi's been in).

And if you want to change people's minds, find a way that doesn't annoy people because that get an entirely different message across and have the exact opposite effect.

I knocked an item off my bucket list today which was to visit the Danish island of Ærø. It's actually very beautiful especially the charming and well preserved town of Ærøskøbing and we got to traverse the entire island because the busses are free. The ferry from Svendborg isn't cheap though.

There's nothing special about the island. I just randomly discovered it on a map years ago and liked that it's name was so short yet full of accent marks and always wanted to go there.

My track "Ahlan wa Sahlan" has been released part of a benefit compilation called "A Warmer Welcome", proceeds from which go to refugee welfare in the UK. Maybe not such a massive honour as there are 110 tracks, lol, but still cool and apparently quite a lot of submissions did get rejected. There are 110 tracks for only £5 (or the equivalent). I'm track 65.

I'm slowly remastering my best tracks and putting them on Youtube, including my remix of Yahel's 'Waves of Sound' which Yahel himself said was "coool". Music has been fun lately.

I'd like to listen when it's on YouTube. :)

Popped into a used bookstore I don't normally visit and they had the exact volume I was looking for and failed to find at three other stores and for half the price I would've paid online.
