*"overkomen" is typically used with persons, e.g. "Hij kwam op mij over als een vriendelijke man". Note the template here is "X kwam op Y over als Z". In this case, since we're talking about a word, and since it's not something new you encountered, I'd use "lijken" (past tense singular "leek").Viktor77 wrote:Dit woord leek me* tamelijk** gewoontot mijin het Engelsover.
**"tamelijk" sounds unidiomatic to me here, I'm not sure why. It's rather formal, but I think the main problem is it doesn't combine well with "gewoon". You could try "vrij" or "nogal" instead.
***"Als" means "if". "Zoals" means "as" or "like". You could hear "als" where I would say "zoals", but to avoid garden pathing, I'd stick with "zoals" in this case.
^or "Zoals ik al zei is het ...", depending on whether you are quoting (normal word order) or subclausing (reversed word order).
^^I'd find it more idiomatic to use e.g. "het is minder courant", or "het komt minder [vaak] voor", or "het wordt minder vaak gebruikt" or the like. "Zeldzaam" invokes natural phenomena or animals for me.
*past participle, so -d when after voice consonant in stem.
**See here, here and here when there's agreement and when not (tl;dr if it means "the same" it's always "hetzelfde", if it means "the same one" it depends on agreement).
***Your translation followed the English version, but I think it's semantically flawed :). You're saying there are people that are named both Victor and Viktor :).

Bedankt, Jal.
So you don't get more stressed out in the future correcting me, I have decided to refrain from writing in Dutch until such time that I learn more. The idiomatic aspect of the language continues to elude me and I have to make an effort that my Dutch be more fluid before I go back to writing in it. I will do this as soon as I can because I want to improve my Dutch. I really like this language even though I can't really explain much why I feel that way. I hope to return one day to Netherland or Belgium because both are countries that I like a lot. Furthermore, my research dealt with the Dutch language. But it's clear that I need to take back up my Dutch study texts.

"Fluido", "fluidamente" and "fluidez" are curious anglicisms, and it seems that they've recently become better known (and therefore accepted). You can even find people online who defend them. But it seems to me that there are still many Spanish speakers who don't know them.
The RAE does say that this construction is used but it's not correct. "Se trata de" is used as an impersonal transitive verb: "Se trata de tres idiomas imaginarios" ('It's about three imaginary languages') --semantically and syntactically it's very similar to French "il s'agit de".

Stress? Me? No, you must've misunderstood be here :). I just said that I didn't have time to write something in German. I often write at work, and of course I don't have much time then. But if you're worried that I spend too much time on you, we can perhaps agree that I'll just make corrections, without explaining everything? I'd be happy if you'd keep practicing your Dutch here!

Linguoboy a raison.
Look how much I mix up French and Spanish! I spoke it better 3 years ago, it's sad. But I recently started a new language exchange in Spanish so that helps.

Try it! It's easy. I hired a graduate student in Spanish who's from Mexico, so he's a native speaker. We talk about many different topics such as cultural differences in Mexico, Spanish heritage speakers in the US, and of course politics. It's very interesting and it helps me to improve my Spanish since I will be teaching basic Spanish in August.
