Question about your books

Questions or discussions about Almea or Verduria-- also the Incatena. Also good for postings in Almean languages.

Question about your books

Post by Warmaster »

Firstly, good to see a new page, and i really like the idea of this story. excluding the out of dateness, i really think with some work that could be a great story. 8) that rather dark future stuff is really cool

my question (well, plain nosyness really) concierns this:

"There's four novels sitting on my shelves. The third and fourth I am gearing up to send out again; the first is entirely horrible; this is the second one-- a science fiction story set in the second half of this century. It's mediocre and outdated enough that it would need a complete rewrite to be published; but it has some interesting stuff which some of you might like to see."

Well, one of those books is babblers, one is the other verdurian novel, one is this sci fi book. but what is the fourth? i can't recall that you've ever mentioned it  (excuse nozyness)

EDIT: oops, reading a bit further, i found this:

"The same future history underlies my fourth novel, by the way, but since it's set almost 3000 years farther on, few of the details matter."

still, is that the sci fi universe you had planned and mentioned a few times?

Yes, book 3 is In the Land of Babblers, and book 4 is called AD 4901 since it begins in that year. I'm pretty happy with it, but didn't have any luck the last time I shopped it around. Now that I'll have some free time I'm going to try again.

Might printing-on-demand, if available in your region and/or budget, be an option if you don't find a publisher for your work?

It could be, but I'm going to try traditional publishing first.

ok, just a question. looking at the map, i notice finland and switzerland aren't part of the european community. i can understand why the swiss ain't there, but any reason why finland?

and as for that, why not the rest of the european nations? is it because they are only very recently independant?

You need to get an updated map, then. Finland IS part of the EU...

Not the European Union, the European Community from Zompist's novel, The Fire Shall Try.

At the time I was writing (~ 1989), I didn't foresee that the bandwagon effect would be quite so strong. If I were redoing it, I'd put in some kind of a schism; I have strong doubts that the EU is viable as a nation for long.
