Some questions for Mark

Mark,
Just wandering is Babblers close to being published (or is it almost done?)

And just wandering about Axunashin or Xurnese when do you think they'll be done? (or the Almeopedia?)

Babblers has a complete manuscript; Mark has been shopping around for publishers for a little while but so far has not found any that are keen.

Both of these as I understand it are "long-term" projects that don't really have a set due-date. Certainly the Almeopedia will not be finished for a long while, and Mark has decided to finish the material on Xurnese religion first before getting back to the languages. Of course, he does have things to do other than conworlding (I have sympathy for him, since I haven't managed to do anything in months - but then again my stuff isn't exactly as in-demand), so a fixed due date probably doesn't really serve any purpose.

Another story by Mark, also set in Almea. While Mark's first novel (starring Abend Monteneon--it's also mentioned in the Secret History) was set in Verduria in the "present day," and Babblers takes place in ancient times, the short story "Effect/Countereffect" is set in Zeir (later a province of Verduria) in the medieval period, as Mark mentions in the footnote--more than two thousand years after the time of Beretos in Babblers, but still several centuries before the present day.

Mark has written "Effect/Countereffect" in full in both English and Verdurian, which I personally find pretty impressive.

Unfortunately, interminable fantasies are what fantasy readers want. My favourite fantasy author, Lawrence Watt-Evans had a series of light, short (200 p) stand-alone fantasy novels set in a world called Ethshar. Unfortunately his publisher has told him the last one didn?t sell all that well ? big interminable fantasy books are in fashion nowadays. And that means we may never see any more novels about Ethshar
