The Vader Sessions, recasting Darth Vader in A New Hope with lines from some of James Earl Jones' other screen characters. I particularly like Vader explaining the secret to "being a daddy" at around 2:40.

It really sucked to be Hatshepshut. (Link fixed with thanks to pharazon.)

One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.

I know a guy who changed his middle name to "Danger," so I guess this isn't that weird.

The Zooshank Redemption.

Steorn's perpetual inaction machine strikes again. (And on the same thread: Feynman tells us that "perpetual motion machines" can be deadly.)

In his latest rant, Zomp wonders whether Sicko's message will resonate with audiences, and speculates that it probably will. Here's an account from a screening in Texas.

One of the coolest models in the world, a miniature Himeji castle.

The Simpsons movie site comes with a nifty create-your-own-avatar feature.

Spin

A short about a DJ using his decks to change the past and fix a little incident in everyday life. Very cleverly thought-out.

Legendary sound engineer Steve Albini, famous for his work with bands like Nirvana and the Pixies and a gajillion others, does a Q&A on the 2+2 Forums. Fascinating stuff.

The Cloverfield trailer ties in with what appears to be a pretty extensive and convoluted viral marketing campaign. I've got mixed feelings about this sort of thing; often it seems to be too much build-up for too little payoff. But this looks at least mildly interesting.

A brilliant animated video for Starving in the Belly of a Whale (Tom Waits song), done as a graduate project by an Israeli student.

The Year is 2020, some bitter humour (is there any other kind at this point?) about the state of American politics.

Candidate for photo of the year.

There's been the first conclusive discovery of an extrasolar planet with water in its atmopshere.

British forces deny releasing man-eating badgers in Basra. This is one instance where I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Great moments in bad taste: Baptists for Brownback, uncomfortable with the emotional baggage of the word "rape" in abortion debates, suggest "Unplanned Sexual Event" as a euphemism. (EDIT: Mind you, I can't quite tell if it's a parody site or not. I think maybe it is. If so, good parody.)

The Virtual Egyptian Museum is very cool.

10th century Viking hoard uncovered in Yorkshire.

Covert Front, a nifty "steampunk" flash game.

Great free albums site, with everything from classical to free jazz, world music to rock and abstract post-rock represented. Thanks to which I'm listening to a great Avram Reichert record (playing Shostakovich) right now.

I think it is. A real fire & brimstone site wouldn't have this gem:
A cauldron of witches Someone named Jerry who plans allowing other people to re-write the Bible. Still a dangerous notion. Needs many prayers.
the underlined text is struck out on the site. Had fun reading through their WILL BURN IN HELL linklist tho :P

They are designed for watching and looking good. Nothing goes too fast to follow, and there are some very clever repeated interlinking interactions between things. These are constructs not just to entertain but to delight.
