Jippir and the Demons

Questions or discussions about Almea or Verduria-- also the Incatena. Also good for postings in Almean languages.

Jippir and the Demons

Post by So Haleza Grise »

Munkhash is described somewhere as being seen by the Jippirasti as the realm of "Kulig, Jippir's opposite and enemy". It's also stated somewhere that the Carhinnoi were allowed to keep Jippirasti after they were conquered by Dhekhnam.

Now I know that Mukhash and Dhekhnam aren't the same thing, but wouldn't this then cause a problem if the Carhinnoi are willing partipants in the enterprise of Dhekhnam? I imagine this would also cause problems in the Lenani client states of Dhekhnam, unless they renounced Jippirasti.

Does Jippir have a problem with the ktuvoks themselves, or just with the worship of Gelalh?

A very similar question came up on the old board-- here's the relevant part of the answer.

As for being ruled by Dhekhnam-- they [the Carhinnoi] hated it, at first. But they had been soundly defeated, and cooperation was the price of survival. Once generations had grown up under Dhekhnami rule, they found ways of justifying their new role. (And perhaps their illiteracy worked against them. They remembered that they had once ruled the ktuvoki; but without writing, these memories soon became merely mythical. And they did not, after all, feel terribly oppressed. It's very hard to continue to hate people who tell you how much they admire you, and give you honors and glory.)

But now what does the rest of the Jippirasti world think of them? (the Carhinnoi)

Yeah, that's about right. The front-line states are still pretty zealous in their beliefs, including their hatred for Kulig and his minions. The time-honored Jippirasti program is to unite all the believers and then sweep down on the infidels (or schismatics), which in practice means that dealing with the wretches is always put off.
