Sources on dechticaetiativity (and applicatives)

I'm interested in languages with these features, and especially how dechticaetiative (it's so fun to type) languages tend to mark benefactives and other roles in other languages often covered by the dative.

Does anyone know of any good books on the subject? If it treats applicatives as well (I understand these features usually co-occur), that's a great bonus, especially if there's an attempt at an explanation of why the two are often found in the same languages.

Perhaps I'm hoping for too much, but I've been looking around, and I haven't found anything.

I have "Applicative Constructions" by David Peterson, which discusses this a little:

I'm not sure I'd recommend that you buy it just to read about alignment issues though, since the discussion of object alignment is a secondary issue in the book.

I just borrowed it from the university library. I'll read it through, it does seem like there's a lot of interesting stuff in there.

I'm updating to tell you all that this is a great book. It's very informative and easy to understand.

I've scanned it for my own future reference, and I'd be willing to up it somewhere if anyone's interested. It's a 130 MB PDF though, so if anyone has any ideas on how to cut that file size down a bit that would be great, or else you'll just have to deal with it.
