Could do… may take a while however, I don't even have a drawing program currently.Lyhoko Leaci wrote:Current locations... I think. Azdusha quit a while back so I took over that area... And I think Absolem's territory is overrepresented. Is Wierdmin still in?
The old tectonic map is back on page 11... Go ahead and re-do it, I basically threw something together.
I don't really need the entire S half of Namjog, feel free to leave the marine area still free for grabs. Or what's the scale here again? Approx Earth-like? Also, the projection is equirectangular or therearound, I gather?
I wonder if there are any easily accessible tools to transform a map to a globe, for ease of eg. a polar projection for developing the Northern area.
(I recognize one of the continent names…
Not actually new.

Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting
I've gotten a lot done so far.
Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting
Welcome, moko! welcome, risla! welcome, trop! awesome to have them here.
Right on! and yeah, Mevcés it is, you're right.Cockroach wrote:Awesome maps Torco! As for continent names, I think they're going to just come up naturally from the languages. There probably won't be any need for them even until the age of sail. They're good placeholders though at least. Oh, and Vidogo is only being worked on by Ceresz, and he calls it Mevcéṣ, soooo...
I haven't been contributing nearly enough, but I promise to make up for it with some awesome art.
Also, welcome all!
right on!Lukas Kelly wrote:Also, on the wiki, I'll be calling Namjog the Southwest Continent.

One little update for that map. I have the little triangular bump that has both steppe and savanna on the northeast coast of Wierdmin's area. A colony and a couple city states have been set up, but nothing big.

Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting
Give me a day or so on this, by the way; I'll be free of obligations and able to start really contributing to this by tomorrow night.
Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting
Still kinda tempted to do this but I don't want to lose track of my own conworld (which let's be fair, isn't getting anywhere at the moment, so maybe i should).
Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting
It's all going to be there waiting for you, not like your old conworld's gonna be jealous, is it?

True, and with this, people will be actively viewing your work, and we all know how rewarding that is in itself.

You know you want to.
Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting
Also, about Bawám, the (city dwelling) Tll-Ikish actually prefer whiter skin, and noblewomen use chalky cosmetic creams to whiten it (it still only lightens down to a sorta tannish color though). Tll-Ikish also like putting on lots of makeup, especially eyeshadow, and both sexes have been known to tattoo their face to put in permanent eyeshadow or even have long streaky tattooed "tears" running down their cheeks.
I imagine that the Tll-Ikish women of Bawám would most likely be the wives or widows of merchants who divorced or remarried (Tll-Ikish women like Chalmean's height and squarish features, and view Chalmean men's appearance as very masculine (though the noblewomen will never admit this))

So are we going to have Bawám be the center port on the world scale? Because I pictured at least SavaΓ Borodche to be more of an export economy.
Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting
So we have a bunch of reasons for extensive hybridation: complementary technology [agricultural - seafaring / warfare - metallurgy], complementary sexuality, proximity, and a healthy amount of Chalmean males doomed to being single or to find some Tíl widow [tíl is the Chalmean word for the Tll-Ikish people]. And since the TI tend to kill each other a lot, well... there's plenty widows, I gather.Cockroach wrote:Also, about Bawám, the (city dwelling) Tll-Ikish actually prefer whiter skin, and noblewomen use chalky cosmetic creams to whiten it (it still only lightens down to a sorta tannish color though). I don't know about that... such a big and primitive world can't have a centralized economy even if it tried. But it sure can play a major role in regional trade.Lukas Kelly wrote:So are we going to have Bawám be the center port on the world scale? finally, triply also... are we doing the thing someone came up with where we came up with notable persons in each other's cultures? that would be awesome.

It seems like it's a bit early for the notable people, unless you're talking about people in mythology...

Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting
What if I want to keep my culture derfing around in the stone age for a while?
(The concept of ages doesn't make sense at all to me, really, except when talking strictly about what materials are being used; I mean, the Aztecs were technically stone age, but it'd be extremely hard to group them with, say, any given Neolithic society in any meaningful way.)
