Not to be picky, but I think the first two of those semicolons are a little odd, and should perhaps rather be commas; they are not separating complete clauses.

I think you're right. Myself I always hated the semicolon and I will go out of my way to avoid its usage. It's just a stupid punctuation mark. I had a dream in which I was reading the St Louis Post-Dispatch and it was denouncing a plan by Obama to overhaul and improve public schools as "Leninist", on the front page no less. At least, I think it was a dream since I can't actually remember where or when I saw that. Although given the political outlook around here, it would not surprise me if that really did happen at some point.
