Soap wrote:I watched a whole movie in a dream. It was an independent production, made by a team of Swedish amateurs, and had a few bad translations, but other than that the fact that it was Swedish didnt seem to affect much. The plotline took place in the USA, mostly near where I live, in fact. And it was a fairly complex story, but I dont remember much of it except the part near the end. A few men were sitting in a room, and one of them was recommending they all take a trip to "Rocky Fountain", which seemed to have somehting to do with the Big Rock Candy Mountain song. They were part of a group of whom most had already left for ordinary vacation spots in the ROcky Mountains.

But most of hte plot was taking place back home. There was a species of winged moose, and one of them was fatally injured by a giant fan which was mounted to the outside wall of someone's house, and turned on right when the moose was in the right place for it (the left wing of the moose was cut off by the blades of the fan.) The owner of the house was held responsible, but she claimed it all happened totally differently, and the moose were attacking violently and she fought back in self defense. This explanation was presented as a separate scene in the movie which ended with some weird CGI bird creatures, "allies" of the moose, spitting eggs on the ground (kind of like Birdo, but more "sickly" looking). This scene was apparently absurd on purpose, as they were showing how ridiculous the woman's fake explanation was.

When the credits started rolling, every person who had worked on the movie except for a few of the extras was given a whole screen with their resume in an easy to read format, because the producers of the movie wanted to make sure they were doing their absolute best to launch people into profitable careers in the movie industry, rather than have them stick to low-paying independent films.
That sounds like a particularly gruesome Science Channel flick...
Why are there so many buckets?! D:

I don't remember how this half-dream which is all I remember began, but:

I was in a garden, at night, chasing after a witch on a broomstick, who had cornered a small boy up a tree. I think I had been sucked into a colour-by-numbers book, because only the lower half of the scene was in colour, and I had to keep throwing colours at the black/white background to keep moving. Eventually I got the whole picture done, but then I messed up and went over the lines with the black, into which the witch disappeared, camouflaged in her black robes.

I climbed up the tree to rescue the small boy, only to find that he'd climbed along a branch, and into an open window, which was just floating in mid-air. I climbed through after him, intending to apologize for spilling black all over him, but he wasn't there. Instead I was in a messy bedroom, and the boy's parents were lying asleep in the bed. I crept across to the door, but then I stumbled over something and landed on the bed.

I looked at what I'd stumbled on - it was a special witch-hunting longbow, which used gigantic pencils instead of arrows (because I knew that witches go up in smoke if they touch a pencil). I picked it up, and looked out of the window. Now I could see the witch, who had her back to me, hovering over the blackened grass, so I got ready and aimed the bow and pencil carefully.

The boy's father woke up then, and the witch heard him. She looked up, saw me aiming at her, and quickly fired her own bow and ballpoint pen at me (because I knew that I would go up in smoke if I touched a ballpoint pen). I dodged back into the bedroom, releasing the pencil as I did. I think it missed, but I never found out.

The father got out of bed (he couldn't see me), and he was wearing just boxers and a vest. He threw a tin down onto the floor, which I picked up, and then he went to use the bathroom. I began walking out of the bedroom to go downstairs, and I opened the tin to see what was inside.

It was a used condom, still full of stuff. I looked at it for a second, confused, then decided I would keep it, because it would come in handy against the witch if I saw her again.

Then I woke up.

I had a dream where I was one of multiple drivers of some sort of bus/speed boat hybrid, and it needed multiple people to control it, with each person moving a single lever forward or backward to generate a corresponding thrust on that part of the vehicle. Another "driver" kept telling me that I didn't need to do anything because everyone else would do the work, but I didn't listen to him, though it was harder to concentrate with him yakking away. The busboat also apparently had the ability to jump when going over a specific item in the water, somewhat like a ramp but the jumping force came from the busboat itself. We went over to it, and used it to hop over a barge of some sort, before landing back in the water and heading to our destination.

The destination was apparently the local golf course, and ended up parking the busboat, now floating on land somehow, behind the hole 1 tee and one of the practice greens, instead of using the parking lot. Everyone from the busboat then walked over to the course's restaurant, though along the way someone stopped to throw grass seed into a couple puddles, and the seed immediately grew up and out of the puddles, making them look like miniature marshes. Near the restaurant there was some sort of electrical device with an enclosed box and a cooling pump, which apparently had some sort of demon inside that was yelling "Let me out of here!" I changed the power coming into the box to 300 volts at 100Hz from 120V at 60Hz by thinking about doing so then concentrating on it, which caused the cooling pump to go crazy and make all sorts of noise, before a pipe suddenly burst, releasing steam, and the pump died. There was some sort of spinning thing inside the box as well, which then suddenly stopped as the parts overheated and expanded, causing them to grind together.

The demon, however, survived and possessed an ordinary school bus that happened to be around, and it went around trying to run people over, but it wasn't a very good driver and everyone was able to get out of the way. It went off of the parking lot and almost hit a tree, but it managed to turn in time and only scraped the side of the tree. After a couple more attempts at running people over, it ramped off of the hill that the hole 1 tee was on top of and ended up flying through the air before crashing down on the practice green and bursting into flames. Apparently this managed to take out the demon, but this is also when I woke up.

I had a dream this morning right before I woke up. I think it might've been influenced by what's going on in Japan. Anyway, in this dream I lived in an apartment that was really far up in a building. I was watching out through the window and the weather was quite stormy. The clouds formed funnels a few times but they always dissolved before I could take photos with my camera. But then an actual tornado formed and I took pictures of it. Then a volcano erupted and shot out huge balls of fire on the city. I took pictures of that too. Then lava started filling the streets and that's when it started feeling scary. Then there were some aliens or something in these sleek, aerodynamical mechas, invading the city. I layed down on the floor right next to the windows so that I wouldn't be visible through the windows from any angle from the outside.

Has anyone ever had a dream that they later thought was true? I noticed something that needed fixing some time ago, and then a few weeks ago when I was finally gonna fix it, the problem wasn't there anymore. It's so mysterious. Logic says to me that maybe that thing that needed fixing was just a dream, but I can't believe it. It was so real.

So, at the start of this dream, I apparently had a "Best of Father Ted" DVD set. I was thinking about the fact that, if I had waited, I could've got a set containing every episode - apparently, that set was only released when the creator of the show (who was apparently Japanese) kept being asked why certain episodes hadn't been released.

Then, I watched two new Doctor Who episodes. (Note that, in real life, new episodes are shown around 7pm on BBC One, and currently feature the Eleventh Doctor.) The first was on at 5pm on BBC Two, and featured the Tenth Doctor - I don't remember the content of the episode, but I remember reading the TV guide, which mentioned that it featured "a profound death".
The other episode was shown at 10pm on ITV1, and featured the Eleventh Doctor. Eleven found that he could remember all his past incarnations except Ten, meaning something terrible must have happened to Ten. Eleven called his previous incarnations one-by-one, using a phone that changed into the appropriate type for the era each Doctor's adventures were broadcast in. At the end of the episode, the cliffhanger was that, at some place where something terrible was being done to a select group of people, the Tenth Doctor was tenth in line.

I had a dream where my name was Eddita and I was the only liberal female in the entire South or Midwest. I need to read the ZBB less, apparently.

The busboat was funny even before it was possessed by the demon. The idea of multiple people having to drive a bus is ridiculous  @Risla: Are you serious :o That sounds like a nightmare.

It was kind of fuzzy, but I was in a room full of washing machines, and I was supervising the people operating them. We were doing an experiment to see whether the Indonesians had been putting poison in the tap water, so we were putting dead rats in the washing machines, because apparently that would give us the answer.

I think that is the most WTF dream I've had in a long time.

My neighbors had converted their house and lawn into an open-air movie theater and I was watching them from my window. Someone came over and complained that I was watching them (I happened to be in a bathroom at the time, but that didnt seem to be the issue). Some others followed her and they blocked up my windows so I couldnt see out. Actually, I still could see out, but I didnt even realize it at first because I was too worried thinking about how I was going to have all my windows shut up even when the weather turned nice. Also they said they were compensating me for not being able to open my windows by putting iPod-touch like displays on the glass, so that I coudl entertain msyelf, but I couldnt figure out how to use them.

This dream was probably caused by my reading about a new law in the UK that if you are seen undressed even in your own home, it's illegal and youre supposed to cover up all your windows.

It's linked to public indecency laws. It's a bit grey but the prosecutor would have to prove you purposefully exposed yourself with the aim of causing offence, knowing that people could see you, as opposed to just being naked at home. As far as I am aware.

I dreamt last night that I was in a rural area of New York, populated by the sort of people Eddy hates, living in shacks next door to Baptist churches and the like. (my dream was not creating 'an area Eddy would hate', it's just that he would.) I moved about in my car, went into a department store (in the middle of nowhere) and looked around at the stuff. Somehow two women in moderately fancy dresses showed up, their boyfriends or husbands having been killed. We had to marry them off, and were considering giving them to the Ktuvoks but then remembered what live is like among those frogs, and knew that as good Yanomamo (for some reason we were basing our marriage decisions on their culture) we couldn't marry them to people so far away from us who would use the lack of nearby relatives as an excuse to beat up the two women all the time.

Then I was in a room watching a political debate. There were two teams of four. Six of the people were just vague figures but on the 'liberal' team was Mike Bloomberg, and on the 'conservative' team was a black woman who was supposed to be the Republican governor of someplace. Kentucky, maybe. It wasn't clear. Huckleberry Finn was alluded to several times, and then an argument began about Bloomberg's qualifications as a 'real New Yorker' which involved either being from upstate, from one of the lower class areas of NYC, or from Manhattan generally. Bloomberg insisted that since he was from Pinky Flatbush, an island in the East River that was part of New York County, he got in with the Manhattan qualification, but the woman governor pointed out only absurdly rich people live there. Bloomberg made some excellent point that I don't remember, and the governor burst into tears, saying that her debate team was sure to lose and she should just go and float down the river on a two foot wide plank. Everyone then began planning to float down the Hudson on a raft, and I commented I would like to do so because I could visit my grandparents.

I was dreaming that I was hovering over Renaissance Venice. I floated down to a courtyard where soldiers were fighting. I approached two soldiers who were bleeding on the ground. They had the faces of two people I know. I woke up, and my iPod said it was 10:42 AM. Then I woke up a second time, and the time was 8:51. This time, I wan't worried because the top fell over.

I dreamt that I was on a panel show with Laurie Anderson and I called for everyone else to take a break so I wouldn't "bore the audience to death" while I explained to her Gilles Fauconnier's theory of mental spaces. Can't remember, though, what question it was that prompted me to do that.

Possibly a reference to the recent spate of reports of cannibalism in Germany, where the "victim" was actually a friendly and willing participant who just wanted to die and make someone else happy at the same time. It's probably not just happening in Germany, but that's where the news reports seemed to focus in on.
