Why is there Swedish loanwords in Verdurian?

Questions or discussions about Almea or Verduria-- also the Incatena. Also good for postings in Almean languages.

Why is there Swedish loanwords in Verdurian?

Post by Noriega »

I haven't really looked into the history of Verduria or the other countries. But I found the "Modern terrestrial terminology" dictionary, and many words came from Swedish. Why is this? (If there exists any logical answer to that )

Thanks,
Felix

I think it's because there is an Embassy of Verduria in Sweden and the largest terretrial influence would come through there in the future

As someone once said to me in another context when I was all bothered about something ahem, giant winking Tweety bird heads:

Why? Why not?

What ever happened to the "Swedish ambassador", by the way? You would think he would post here a lot. Was Verduria just a passing fad for him?

Yes, the idea was that since an embassy was established with Sweden, then information about modern Earth would be filtered through Swedish.

I heard from Markus a month or so ago, but he hasn't written back since, so I really don't know what's up with him.
