I've never thought of myself as one of that sort of people, but by God whenever Darkgamma lowers his fingers to the keyboard I get a little alarm in my head and a small dark part of my brain screams out that it wishes idiocy were grounds for sectioning

Darkgamma, you are not clever, you are not witty, you are not likeable, people on this board who despise you and express contempt on your person are not doing it because they are mean or frustratred, they are doing it because this is all you are inspiring to the vast majority of people who are reading you, most of which are actually nicer and cleverer than you are. The problem is not their attitude, the problem is your attitude. The sooner you'll become aware of this and start to work on changing it, the sooner you'll be allowed to enjoy a better zbb surfing experience.

I don't care if I'm witty or likeable, seriously. I'm just a normal person.
My attitude is not the problem, there's nothing wrong with it. This is the only board that has a problem with my attitude, and, as far as I know, the only board that has people who still haven't learned how to respond to irony or random posts, or even understand the concept of joke.
The only thing keeping me here is the fact that I will hardly find more suitable, more active a board. It's unfortunate that I'm stuck here with people like them.

Yes, actually. Something you seem to need to learn is that not all boards are frequented by the same sort of person, and therefore you won't get the same reception at every board you visit.

This is what all unsufferable people say about every place they're coming to. No, the problem is your attitude. If you don't want to change it, you're not stuck here, you're free to leave, and the people you have a problem with here are also the people who keep this board "suitable" and "active", instead of letting it being overran by people who don't know much but sure are sensible about being told so.

In short: boards that do not suck have higher standards and ask more of their users. That is not a bug, that is a feature. Again, if you don't want to understand that, you can leave anytime.

Seconded. Not everyone in the world who is insufferable is a troll, as troll implies being insufferable in itself to get attention or provoke a response, as opposed to being insufferable due to not knowing how to interact with other human beings in a sociable manner.

And as for Darkgamma himself, saying "you all are the problem" when one's acting in such a manner gets one negative reactions from the userbase in general points at being a member of the second group of insufferable people mentioned above.

And so what if he has not gotten other reactions elsewhere - the CBB and its ilk do not comprise all of humanity, nor should the rest of humanity be expected to abide by their idiotically low expectations of people.

Please refrain from trolling this topic and posting insults to other board members. Its upsetting that this should happen. This topic was created for people to express their views on natlangs, not other board members.
But that's the nature of the ZBB.

Please refrain from talking about what you don't understand, and from being patronising to people who have a bit more experience with this board than you do.

So, back on topic, I randomly decided to tally up what languages people gave:

like:
Polynesian 1
Nahuatl 2
Japanese 3
Russian 1
FInnish 5
Icelandic 2
Dutch 1
Mongolian 1
Catalan 2
Romanian 2
Georgian 2
Hungarian 1
Zulu 2
Navajo 1
Malayalam 1
German 2
Lithuanian 1
Arabic 2
Amharic 1
Portuguese 2
Swedish 1
English 2 (Br. 1, Southern US 1)
Greek 1
French 2
Polish 1
Xhosa 2
Semitic 1
Mayan 1
Hindi 1
Thai 1
Scottish Gaelic 1
Korean 1
Spanish (Spain) 1
Estonian 1
Mandarin 2
Maltese 1

don't like:
Thai 2
Cantonese 1
Malay 1
French 11
Dutch 3
Arabic 2
Spanish 3
Mandarin 2
Russian 6
Irish 1
Danish 1
Vietnamese 2
German 2
English 4 (+1 for SA, +1 for Aus, +1 for Am like GWB)
Kashubian 1
Greek 2
Italian 1
Maltese 1
Swedish 1
Hindi 1
Polish 2
Hungarian 1
Finnish 1

and added together:

Polynesian 1
Nahuatl 2
Japanese 3
Russian -5
FInnish 4
Icelandic 2
Dutch -2
Mongolian 1
Catalan 2
Romanian 2
Georgian 2
Hungarian 0
Zulu 2
Navajo 1
Malayalam 1
German 0
Lithuanian 1
Arabic 0
Amharic 1
Portuguese 2
Swedish 0
English -2 (+1 for Br. + Southern US, -1 for SA, +1 for Aus, +1 for Am like GWB)
Greek -1
French-9
Polish -1
Xhosa 2
Semitic 1
Mayan 1
Hindi 0
Thai-1
Scottish Gaelic 1
Korean 1
Spanish -2 (+1 was for Spain)
Estonian
Mandarin 0
Maltese 0
Cantonese-1
Malay -1
Irish -1
Danish -1
Vietnamese -2
Kashubian -1
Italian -1

So it seems that the most popular language so far is Finnish and the least popular is French, followed by Russian.

I think French is more a bias because it's French and the hate may be more cultural in origin.

But Finnish at the top does not surprise me. This should depress any Finn (even more) because they cannot hear how beautiful their language sounds when it's nothing but gibberish.

You joined 6 months ago. From our perspective you are a noob, and starting thread about "nice sounding natlangs", acting smug, haughty, dismissive and contemptuous to your contradictors, or trying to explain to people who've been here for years how this board is supposed to work is not doing anything to mitigate this impression.

So let me get this straight: topic derailment is the norm on this board. If you have a problem with this, go to another board.

Adressing problems that appear in some thread in the thread that they appear in is the norm here (and as you've brought yourself into becoming part of the problem, you are being adressed right now). If you have a problem with this, go to another board.

Oh legion, stop being a dick pretty please. Inserting the same tired old argument about who hates Darkgamma the most isn't actually going to get us anywhere and the "noob" actually has a point here – we're wasting time and energy by arguing about it all over the board.

Not that I'm innocent or anything, but being a "noob" shouldn't really be tossed around as an insult like that...

I am actually doing a lot of efforts to be nice in this thread. Me being a dick is generally just calling people a moron and call it a day. Here you may see I'm actually doing an effort to explain my position without ressorting to insults (I don't consider noob to be an insult; everyone is a noob at some point; but there are bad and good noob behaviours).
