The rules (taken from Renaçido's post for the most part):
The rules: (if I've missed any, tell me)
• You have four (4) days to complete the translation – this is to keep it going.
• Unless you are translating to or from English, you should also provide an English translations, so that those monoglots among us can keep up with the action.
• When you have translated, PM your new translation to the person next in line and to me, and your extra English translation, if you have made one, just to me. Do not post translations in this thread.
• There will be two teams, lettered A and B.
• Check this thread to keep up with any news.
• Anyone who wishes to translate into another language that we didn't get a chance to use because there wasn't anybody to pair the user to, be welcome to speak up and I might find a place to fit you in.
• I'll compile it on the kneequickie at the end.

There's talk about creating a audio polyglottal telephone as well, but maybe next time. I'm relatively new here, and I don't want to start something completely new and muck it up somehow.

I have an idea for a text already, but you are welcome to suggest something to me to see if I like it better, though.

Now, just post what languages you're offering to translate into and out of (and if you offer "any Romance language" make sure you're okay with Romanian. Though I'll try not to purposely torture you...)

I have a fucking degree in it. I didn't forget it, I purposely didn't put it for the same reason that I didn't put English and Welsh. I want something that's more of a challenge.

Judging by the lengths of the previous runs, it will probably end around mid May to June, depending on the number of people and when it starts. (Unless I put everyone in the same group, or a ton of people sign up) Though someone might start another round after this one is finished, which would fall into that time frame.

(Actually, have just done a quick google search, it seems that there seems to be about the same number of sources on the internet for both. Weird.)

Also, I'm happy to do more than one link, if it enables us to get some really weird language pairs, like (I dunno) Romansh into Swahili.

I agree with Dewrad. In order to make these polyglottals increasingly more interesting and to encourage participation, we need to sway away from constantly translating English to Spanish to French to German to Japanese to English and add in some variety.

I almost considered volunteering to do out of Afrikaans for the same reason, but then I remembered that I'm only in the equivalent of Afrikaans 101. However, if anyone wants to translate into Afrikaans, I'd be more than happy to (try) translate(ing) out of it. I figure my knowledge of German coupled with a dictionary/grammar would suffice. Though to my knowledge we don't have any Afrikaans speakers on the board...
