Conlingual Telephone VI
Re: Conlingual Telephone VI
Done! I wasted my whole day on it, but I got it finished in time. Good for me. Go team quark!

Looks tasty... I'll try speeding up the link and do it tomorrow, or Sunday at the latest.

Done and relayed. Considerable mangling involved, but that's probably the point.

Done and relayed too. Having a nice short text like this one is definitely a good idea; I wouldn't have had the time for much more, but with this text it's been a lot of fun...

Might as well warn you now that I'll be visiting friends in York from Wednesday to Friday and I don't think I'm going to take my laptop with me. So Risla, either hurry up and finish it like tomorrow, or take your sweet time.

It seems to be getting longer... and weirder.

Weirder? I honestly felt like that second sentence was pure gibberish when trying to decipher and then retranslate it -_-Lyhoko Leaci wrote:It seems to be getting longer... and weirder.

I'm finally to the point where I can look at this. Should be done tomorrow or Saturday.

Just wondering, why do some members of team II get more time?

It was partially because Nortaneous couldn't go right away, and partially because someone dropped out, and partially because one person's turn overlaps Christmas.Mr. Z wrote:Just wondering, why do some members of team II get more time?

Haha! Yeah, it's completely weird. I ended up messing things up and thinking of various translations.Nortaneous wrote:I have been staring at this fucking thing for ages and I still cannot make the slightest bit of sense out of this damn gloss. Fffffffffffff

Just got it. I'll have to see if I can do it while I have a spare moment this weekend, so it might be tomorrow, it might be next week, we'll see.

Re: Conlingual Telephone VI
I should recheck, but as far as I know, neither South Eresian nor Sentalian distinguish singular and plural, so it's natural that we should essentially take a stab in the dark as to which of "god" or "gods" it should be. In Sentalian, "adm" would normally be translated as "moons", too, since there's two, although I didn't really put that into the translation guide.

Re: Conlingual Telephone VI
South Eresian does distinguish plurality, but the plural marking in Doayâu was small enough (just a tone change on the final syllable) that I managed to completely miss it. It would have been yeyéjan instead of yéjan.
Re: Conlingual Telephone VI
I guess it didn't come up in the rest of the passage, then...
Re: Conlingual Telephone VI
Well, nice. I don't really understand the commentary on my translation... Did I miss a future tense marker?

Well, my gloss was this:
Forever do like here west after-that-climb sun.OBL sky in indicate light.
Pretty similar, except I interpreted <civ> as "after" and thought <zig> was an oblique case marker. Well, that's the nature of Conlingual Telephones.
